Ion Chromatographic Analysis of Corrosive Materials in Product Tampering Investigations

CODEN: JFSCAS

Abstract

Investigations of product tampering cases involving corrosives focus on the cause of extreme pH, and then attempt to determine the source of the contaminant. The application of ion chromatography to several product tampering cases is discussed. Examples include lye in cold medicine, ammonia in milk, and strong acids in eye drops and a food supplement.
