You must be registered to attend ASTM Meetings. Use our online registration form where you have the ability to register for multiple events, pay fees in advance using a credit card and receive an electronic confirmation.

When you preregister online you will receive emails on committee meetings, final announcements and other information that will help you prepare for your meeting. The registration information significantly assists us in preparations for the committee week.

The cut-off for preregistration is Wednesday, June 18, 2014. After this date, please register on-site at the ASTM Registration Desk at the JW Marriott Indianapolis.


All meetings will be held at the JW Marriott Indianapolis, 10 S West St, Indianapolis, IN 46204. Reservations may be made by telephoning the hotel at 877-303-0104. To make your hotel reservation online, visit Reservations at the JW Marriott Indianapolis. Select your dates and proceed as instructed. If you need assistance with your hotel reservation call the hotel directly at 317-860-5800.

Group rate will be honored until the ASTM block is full but no later than Friday, May 23, 2014. Reserved rooms may be SOLD OUT prior to the cut-off date. ASTM rates are $159 USD single/double plus 17% tax (you must mention ASTM in order to receive a group rate). You may be charged a higher rate if reservations are received after the cut-off date.

U.S. GOVERNMENT RATES: You must contact the Marriott Courtyard Indianapolis, 601 West Washington St. for the Government per diem rate of $95 USD plus 17% tax. To obtain a government rate go online at Marriott Courtyard Indianapolis. Reservations may also be made by telephoning the hotel at 1-317-822-9029. You must present your ID at the front desk upon check-in. The hotel is directly connected to the JW Marriott.


The ASTM Room Block is currently SOLD OUT on the nights of Wednesday, June 25th and Thursday, June 26th ONLY at the JW Marriott Indianapolis, Courtyard, Springhill Suites, Fairfield Inn and the Indianapolis Marriott. You are able to reserve a room at the ASTM Group rate at these Hotels if departing on Wednesday, June 25th or earlier.

ASTM Group rooms are available at our additional overflow hotels, The Residence Inn by Marriott Canal, 350 West New York Street and Courtyard by Marriott Capitol, 320 North Senate Avenue. Both Hotels are adjacent to each other and approximately 1/2 mile from the JW Marriott or a 5 minute walk.

The Residence Inn by Marriott Canal ASTM group rate is $179 and includes a Studio Suite with living room and kitchenette, full Breakfast each morning and complimentary Wi-Fi. The Courtyard by Marriott Capitol ASTM group rate is $169 and includes complimentary Wi-Fi.

IMPORTANT! ASTM rates are non-commissionable. If you book your reservation through a travel agent they must ask for a non-commissioned ASTM Group Rate. ASTM cannot adjust your higher rate if commissions were paid to a travel agency.

CONFIRMATION NOTICES: A confirmation number is provided to you electronically once your reservation has been submitted.

CANCELLATION/CHANGE POLICY: At the JW Marriott Indianapolis notice of cancellation must be received by 6:00pm on the day of arrival.

AIRPORT SHUTTLE SERVICE: Go Green is available at the baggage claim terminal. The phone number for the shuttle service is 800-589-6004. The shuttle runs every half hour from 8:00am to 11:00pm everyday. The cost is $10 per person. Taxis cost approximately $35.

PARKING: Overnight parking is available at $36 for valet and $30 self-parking with in and out privileges.

ASTM Compass Product Overview

The ASTM Compass Product is a new subscription service being offered by ASTM. Attendees will learn how organizations can access tailored content and services from a platform where employees can share and annotate standards, get training, and have instant access to ASTM content. Presented by John Gallagher, ASTM Account Development Manager.

Workshop: Committee D02 Member Orientation
Monday, 7:00am - 8:00am
Wednesday, 7:00am - 8:00am

This orientation will include an overview of ASTM and the organization and structure of D02. Learn about your role and responsibilities as a new D02 member. There will be an opportunity to ask questions. All members, especially new members and visitors, are encouraged to attend. The orientation will be presented by James Simnick, Committee D02 First Vice-Chairman.

Workshop: Introduction to the Interlaboratory Study Program (ILS)
Monday, 12:00pm - 1:00pm
Wednesday, 8:00am - 9:00am

This module is designed to familiarize members with the ILS Program, its features, benefits, capabilities, and the online registration process. Accessed via the "Members Only" pages of the ASTM Website, you will be guided through a complete ILS registration, highlighting the information that will be requested in the process. Research Reports will also be specifically addressed during the session. This program will benefit anyone planning to run (or participate in) an interlaboratory study to generate a precision statement for a new or existing ASTM test method. Light refreshments will be provided. Presented by Phillip Godorov and Caitlin Farrell, ASTM ILS Staff.

In addition to the ILS Workshop schedule above, several ILS Q&A Sessions have been planned with ASTM ILS Staff. Please feel free to drop in and ask questions about the brainstorm ideas for your upcoming interlaboratory studies. ILS Representatives will also be available to review the status of your current interlaboratory studies and help plan for the next steps. Sessions are open to all, and no appointments are needed.

Workshop: How to Be an Effective Committee Member
Tuesday, 7:00am - 8:00am

This workshop will provide guidance on how members can make the most of their ASTM membership. The Workshop objectives include: 1) How to find the knowledge a member needs; 2)How to optimize their participation through the balloting process, writing a negative vote, navigating the ASTM website; 3)Preparing for a Meeting; and 4)Identifying leadership and mentor opportunities within the Committee Structure. Presented by ASTM Staff.

Workshop: Understanding Test Method Bias
Tuesday, 5:00pm - 6:00pm

This seminar will provide an overview on the different categories and forms of test method bias. Concepts on between laboratory, between instruments, and, between test methods that 'purport' to measure the same property will be discussed. How bias contributes towards test method reproducibility (R), the concept of between-method reproducibility (Rxy), and sample-specific bias will be explained. Presented by Alex Lau, Subcommittee Chairman, D02.94

Petroleum Standards Training Products Workshop
Wednesday, 12:00pm - 1:00pm

This workshop will provide a demonstration of ASTM's new petroleum training products including videos, key concept presentations, outlines, datasheets, and quizzes. Topics discussed include the selection process, how the videos are produced, the review process, and how the products can be accessed. Presenter: Andy Buckmaster, Multimedia Production Manager


Several ASTM committees collect a voluntary fee to support activities associated within the committee such as awards, social events, etc. Each committee determines the amount, encourages your contribution, and can be paid on-line in advance on the preregistration page. This voluntary contribution is not an ASTM International society fee.


Committee Week Meetings offer on-site services from the ASTM staff. We provide photocopying service, audio/visual equipment, and a members' work area with complimentary internet computers. We also have an editor on-site to assist you with the form and style of standards, editorial changes and first drafts of standards.

Attendees have the option to determine their dress at ASTM meetings. Business casual attire is acceptable at this meeting and appropriate for Indianapolis. The average temperatures in June range from a high of 81 degrees to a low of 61 degrees.


INTERNET: The JW Marriott Indianapolis has high speed internet access at $14.95 per day. The hotel offers free wireless internet service in the hotel lobby.

ASTM MEMBERS WORK AREA: ASTM is providing computers with an internet connection. This area will also be wireless. You may visit the ASTM website, apply or renew your membership, order publications or check your email. The complimentary wireless service is limited to the members work area only. The meeting rooms throughout the hotel will not have internet connections.
