Isotropic and Singular Points in Photoelasticity of Composites

CODEN: JCTRER

Abstract

The motivation behind this report is the need for a thorough understanding of the photoelastic effect observed in birefringent anisotropic composite materials. Basically, there are two main sources of difficulties in anisotropic photoelasticity. The first is due to the inherent mechanical and optical heterogeneities caused by the different constituents of model materials. The second is interpreting the isochromatic and isoclinic fringes that are obtained as integrated effects along a light-path.
