Key ASTM International Committee Presents Top Annual Award to Steven Corrado

ASTM International’s committee on personal protective clothing and equipment (F23) presented its top annual award – the Award of Merit – to Steven D. Corrado, principal engineer – personal protective equipment, at UL, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA. The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for individual contributions to developing standards.  

The committee honored Corrado for outstanding and dedicated leadership with a strong commitment to the pursuit of improved worker safety via standards development, and for respected technical expertise, outstanding leadership, and exemplary professionalism. 

An ASTM International member since 2006, Corrado has previously been awarded the Distinguished Service Award (2009), the 10 Year Service Award (2016), and the Award of Appreciation (2016).  He is also a member of the ASTM International committees on textiles (D13), sports equipment, playing surfaces, and facilities (F08), pedestrian/walkway safety and footwear (F13), and electrical protective equipment for workers (F18). 

Corrado has been with UL since 1992, having previously served with Charles River Laboratories, Weyerhaeuser, and the United States Navy onboard the USS Hammerhead. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from North Carolina State University. 

In addition to ASTM International, Corrado is a member of the National Fire Protection Association, International Safety Equipment Association, and the International Standards Organization.
