Key ASTM International Committee Honors Jussara Tanesi

Jussara Tanesi, concrete materials engineer and lab manager with the SES group at the Federal Highway Administration’s Research and Technology Program, was honored with the Katharine and Bryant Mather Member Contribution Award by ASTM International’s committee on concrete and concrete aggregates (C09).  

An ASTM International member since 2005, Tanesi was recognized for outstanding contributions to the development of an ASTM test method for flexural strength of concrete as well as for the enhancement of cement and concrete technology standards. The committee previously honored Tanesi with the Award of Appreciation in 2014.  

Tanesi has served in her current role since 2002, having previously served as a consultant with the Portland Cement Association and the Brazillian Portland Cement Association, as well as a professor at Bandeirante University in Brazil. She holds a bachelor’s degree in civil and structural engineering from Campinas University, a master’s degree in civil engineering from Sao Paulo University, and a doctorate degree in civil engineering from Campinas University. 

In addition to ASTM International, Tanesi is a member of the International Society for Concrete Pavements, American Concrete Institute, and the Transportation Research Board.
