Translations

Robert Johnson, M.D., of the University of Vermont, has received the 2018 Charles B. Dudley Medal Award from ASTM International, one of the world’s leading standards organizations.

Established in 1925 in commemoration of the organization’s first president, Charles B. Dudley, the award was created to stimulate research leading to standardization, extend knowledge of the specific interests of ASTM International, and to recognize meritorious contributions to ASTM publications.

Johnson was honored for his work on 15 selected technical papers related to snow sport safety, specifically related to ski injury production and the scientific examination of methods and equipment to prevent ski injuries.

In addition to his research, Johnson was considered a vital contributor to the standards development process of the ASTM International committee on snow and water sports (F27). He joined ASTM International in 1975. He earned his medical degree at the University of Iowa.

In addition to ASTM International, Johnson is a member of the International Society for Skiing Safely and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine.
