ASTM International Spotlights Women in Standards, Launches News App

In celebration of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, one of the world’s top leaders in standards and related services (ASTM International) is releasing a special issue of Standardization News magazine focused on the growing number of women who work with technical standards. The organization also launched a new “ASTM News” app featuring the award-winning magazine and a newsfeed.

Katharine Morgan, the first woman president in the 120-year-old organization’s history, said, “The standardization community has led the way in providing opportunities for women, but we still have work to do – overall – in terms of attracting more girls and women to the engineering and STEM fields.”

The “Women in Standards” March-April issue features the voices of dozens of women role models, including engineers, association leaders, consumer advocates, and more. It includes: a Q&A with Society of Women Engineers President Jonna Gerken of Pratt & Whitney, information on a United Nations-driven effort to involve more women in standardization, networking opportunities for women in standards, and more.

ASTM International will also highlight women’s voices on its LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter (@ASTMIntl) channels throughout the month.

In addition, ASTM International has launched its free new “ASTM News” app that hosts the mobile-responsive edition of Standardization News as well as a feed for ASTM International news releases. It is now available in Google Play and the App Store or by searching “ASTM News.”
