This eLearning course provides broad coverage of the specifications, testing, and technology related to gasoline and diesel fuel oil. The course covers the different types and components of gasoline, ways to enhance octane, the various types of volatility, the purpose of sampling, and the stages of drivability. Specifications related to gasoline, discuss gasoline additives, oxygenates, the refining process and the quality and distribution of fuels are covered. In addition, the course relates the test methods to specifications (ASTM D975), quality issues, distribution, and diesel engine technology.
With recent trends towards environmentally friendly ultra-clean fuels, fuel specification testing procedures have attained a reasonable level of sophistication. The significance of such testing will be covered in this course.
The course takes approximately 10 hours to complete and includes lecture, instructional video content covering ASTM Test Methods in use, interactive knowledge checks, and a self-grading quiz.
By the end of this course you will be able to:
This training course will be most valuable to technicians performing gasoline and/or diesel fuel tests, scientists, and engineers whose responsibilities include supervising training, or testing and using gasoline and/or diesel fuel.
This course covers gasoline and diesel fuels technology with numerous procedural videos to illustrate the use of various ASTM test methods.
CEUs: 1.0 CEUs or 10 PDHs
Certificate: A certificate is available upon successful completion of the course and an 80% or higher score on the exam.
