About the Webinar

This webinar aims to extend your knowledge about the unique design opportunities associated with Additive Manufacturing (AM). The webinar builds on the Design for Additive Manufacturing: Part 1 session which discusses design concepts applicable to AM and software tools including CAD and topology optimization. For this second part of the course, we will build our understanding of the digital thread by looking at the .STL and .AMF data transfer formats for AM. We will dive deep to recognize the manufacturing constraints that lead to general and process specific design rules so that you will avoid the common pitfalls. We will examine some of the important ISO/ASTM International standards and useful design guides available, plus a short overview regarding some of the resources when designing parts for the Covid-19 pandemic.

This OnDemand webinar will take approximately 1 and a half hours to complete.
