accredited iacet provider
Price: $174
About the Course

This test method covers the determination of nitrogen in liquid hydrocarbons, including petroleum process streams and lubricating oils in the concentration range from 40 ug/g to 10,000 ug/g nitrogen. For light hydrocarbons containing less than 100ug/g nitrogen, Test Method D4629 can be more appropriate.

The course takes approximately 1 hour to complete and includes instructional video content, interactive knowledge checks, and a self-grading quiz. Downloadable resources include a pdf of the standard.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Recall apparatus, reagents, and materials used for the determination of nitrogen by baot-inlet chemiluminescence, including volumetric and gravimetric preparations for solutions.
  • Identify sampling requirements as outlined in ASTM D5762
  • Recognize procedures for preparation of apparatus, including those for single and two-zone furnaces
  • Recall calibration and standardization procedures, including those specific to volumetric and gravimetric measurement.
  • Identify quality control requirements as outlined in ASTM D5762.
  • Recall procedural steps for determination of nitrogen by boat-inlet chemiluminescence.
  • Recognize calculation procedures for determination of nitrogen content.
  • Recognize reporting requirements as outlined in ASTM D5762.

Anyone who runs the D5762 test method or who needs an understanding of the test method and how it is properly run.
