About the Course
You'll build a critical foundation for understanding estimation of LNAPL Transmissivity (Tn). These concepts will teach you about the practical limits for hydraulic recovery of subsurface petroleum and create effective remedial strategies. You will learn how multiple occurrences of LNAPL (confined, perched, unconfined) affect LNAPL Tn, as well as discern which calculation methods are appropriate for each condition. Topics will include analyzing skimming test data, baildown test data, and previously collected remediation system data.
Upon completion of this training, attendees should be able to:
- Identify an appropriate method(s) for calculating LNAPL Transmissivity
- Use these methods to collect data and process the data through a proper set of equations
- Recognize poor data points and remove them from LNAPL Transmissivity calculations
- Select the appropriate methodology based on site conditions
- Use the results of the analyses for making better remedial decisions about remediation approaches

This course is designed for LSPs, environmental consultants, and others in the LSP community. Attendees should have a basic understanding of hydrogeologic processes and non-aqueous phase liquid (NAPL) fundamentals. It is recommended that all attendees become familiar with the E2856 Standard in order to maximize the use of their time at the workshop.

About the Instructors
Tripp Fischer, BSTI is a Principal Hydrogeologist specializing in Light Non-Aqueous Phase Liquid (LNAPL) assessment and remediation. In addition to his consulting career, Mr. Fischer served as a Hydrogeologist and Environmental Engineer with the State of Delaware for 11 years. He has authored and coauthored numerous NAPL related regulations, guidance, and industry standards and has performed training courses and seminars internationally. Mr. Fischer is a Professional Geologist in Delaware and Pennsylvania and is currently Chair of ASTM International's subcommittee on Environmental Corrective Action. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Geology from West Chester University and Master of Engineering in Environmental Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University.
Trevre Andrews, CH2MHILL is a Geologist/Geophysicist with expertise in the analysis and management of NAPLs at Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) sites and Railroad sites. He has served in coordinating a team of more than two dozen NAPL Experts as a NAPL Technical Practice Group Leader. He has over 10 years of experience with technical specialties in: Groundwater and Soil Subsurface Investigation, Groundwater Recovery and Treatment Systems, In Situ and Ex Situ Soil Remediation and Treatment, Remedial Fate and Transport Modeling, Remediation Feasibility Studies, Remediation Technology, Testing/Evaluation/Pilot Studies, and Sustainable Remediation. He is a recipient of the Environmental Business Achievement Award New Practice: LNAPL Remediation Strategy.
