About the Course

This test method covers the determination of the density, relative density, and API gravity of crude oils that may be handled in a normal fashion as liquids at test temperatures between 15 °C and 35 °C utilizing either manual or automated sample injection equipment. This test method applies to crude oils with high vapor pressures provided appropriate precau- tions are taken to prevent vapor loss during transfer of the sample to the density analyzer.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand principles of digital density analyzer and its application in determining of Density, Relative Density and API gravity
  • Provide understanding of the scope of the method and its applicability to crude oils
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of various components of Digital Density Analyzer and its proper use for accurate results
  • Understand proper sample handling and adverse impact of improper sampling/ sample preparation/ sample handling on the results

Who Should Attend

This course is intended for:

  • Laboratory technicians
  • Chemists
  • Lab Managers
  • Analysts
  • Specialists
  • Crude oil staff, crude oil tanks, pipelines, operators collecting samples from the plant
