This course provides a comprehensive overview of ASTM D4814, the standard specification for automotive spark-ignition engine fuel. Participants will begin with a brief history of ASTM and its role in setting fuel standards. The course covers the essential properties of gasoline, including crude refining and blending processes, and explores the scope and terminology of ASTM D4814.
Key topics include the performance requirements of gasoline fuel, ASTM test methods related to gasoline specifications, and proper handling of samples, containers, and materials. Participants will also learn about the application of quality management systems, the use of control charts for data monitoring, and review essential ASTM reference documents.
The course concludes with a general discussion on workshop practices to solidify learning and application in real-world settings.
