This course is based on ASTM E165/E165M–23 Standard Practice for Liquid Penetrant Testing for General Industry. This practice covers procedures for penetrant examination of materials. This course does not replace the ASTM standard.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

• Identify penetrant classifications and test types.
• Recognize the penetrants, emulsifiers, and developers used when performing penetrant examination of materials and when it is appropriate to use them..
• Recall the parameters for the procedure and each individual method, including penetrant removal and developer application.
