1.1 This standard classifies discarded materials from manufacturing facilities and associated on-site support facilities. 1.2 This classification system is based on classification status, location, disposition, and treatment. 1.3 This classification does not purport to address or supersede proper waste disposal required by laws and regulation. 1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
There are no known documents to guide this work, which is becoming more prevalent in industry as companies assume more corporate responsibility. The lacking of definitions and methods creates confusion in the marketplace for those wishing to procure from responsible manufacturers and trying to make side-by-side comparisons in doing so.
