    Coal Chemistry Technician Personnel Certificate Program


    About the Program

    The ASTM Coal Chemistry Technician Personnel Certificate Program is offered to those individuals who attend the Coal Chemistry Technician Training Course and have been verified to have successfully passed the examination. The purpose of a one and a half-day training program on good laboratory practices in coal chemistry is to focus on the standards most frequently used in coal chemistry labs. Individuals who pass the examination at the end of the course shall receive a signed certificate from ASTM and be listed in the Directory of Certificate Holders. The benefits of receiving a certificate include:

     

    • Providing customers a basis for evaluating qualifications of personnel providing coal chemistry testing
    • Helping employers judge the skills of existing or potential employees
    • Allowing certificate holders to differentiate themselves from others in their profession and advance their careers
    • Listing in the ASTM Directory of Certificate Holders

     

    Each attendee will have the option of taking an examination to receive an ASTM Coal Chemistry Technician Training Personnel Certificate. The examination will be comprised of multiple choice questions. Each student who receives a score of 70% or better will receive a certificate.


    Approval Process for the Personnel Certificate Program

    An applicant for the certificate program shall do the following:

    1. Review the program requirements outlined in the [Scheme Manual for Coal Chemistry Technician Personnel Certificate Program(118)]
    2. Register for the Coal Chemistry Technician Training Course ($995 fee) and at the same time register for the Coal Chemistry Technician Personnel Certificate Program  ($95 fee).
    3. Attend the Coal Chemistry Technician Training Course and pass the personnel certificate examination.


    Fees

    The fee to take the Personnel Certificate examination is $95. It must be taken in conjunction with the Coal Chemistry Technician Training Course ($995 fee).
