This specification covers the standard for rolled nickel and nickel alloy plate, sheet, and strip. The materials shall be manufactured by one either electric-arc, electric-induction, or other suitable processes. The specimens shall also be subjected to chemical analysis, tension test, and grain size test. If one of the specimens fails to meet the prescribed requirements, two additional specimens from different sample pieces shall be tested again.

1.1 This specification covers a group of general requirements that, unless otherwise specified in the purchase order or in an individual specification, shall apply to rolled nickel and nickel alloy plate, sheet, and strip, under each of the following specifications issued by ASTM: Specifications , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , .
1.2 In case of any conflicting requirements, the requirements of the purchase order, the individual material specification, and this general specification shall prevail in the sequence named.
