    Abstract

    This specification applies to electric-fusion (arc)-welded straight seam or spiral seam steel casing pipe with diameter of 10 in. (254 mm) and larger (outside diameter as specified by purchaser) and wall thickness of 0.200 in. (5.1 mm) or greater. It shall be permissible to specify and furnish pipe having other dimensions provided such pipe complies with all other requirements of this specification. The pipe is intended for use as casing or encasement in horizontal underground boring, tunneling, or open trench applications.

    This specification covers materials and manufacturing process to be used, qualification of welding and welding procedures, weights per unit length, lengths and ends, number of tests, retests, test specimens and test methods, workmanship, finish, and appearance. It also includes requirements for inspection, certification, and product marking.

    1. Scope

    1.1 This specification covers electric-fusion (arc)-welded straight seam or spiral seam steel casing pipe 10 in. (254 mm) and larger in diameter (outside diameter as specified by purchaser) with wall thickness 0.200 in. (5.1 mm) or greater. It shall be permissible to specify and furnish pipe having other dimensions provided such pipe complies with all other requirements of this specification. The pipe is intended for use as casing or encasement in horizontal underground boring, tunneling, or open trench applications.

    1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.

    1.3 The text of this specification contains notes and footnotes that provide explanatory material. Such notes and footnotes, excluding those in tables and figures, do not contain any mandatory requirements.
