F42 Additive Manufacturing Technologies
Event Name: F42 February 2020 Meeting
Pre-registration requested to attend this meeting.

ABOUT THE EVENT

An understanding on the entire AM process chain is extremely valuable to keep pace with rapidly growing AM technologies. New AM technologies are introduced in the market regularly and new applications requirements are coming up quite often. To accelerate the rate of technology adoption and to get involved in the adoption process one should have an understanding on industry specific requirement in addition to the general understanding on the AM process.

This one and a half day workshop will offer the attendees an opportunity to get a comprehensive understanding of entire AM process chain which covers Data, Feedstock, Design & Simulation, Process Qualification, Testing, and Inspection, as well as on AM application requirements in specific industry sectors such as Aerospace, Medical, Defense, Energy, Construction, and Automotive. The workshop also covers gaps in AM standardization and the research initiatives from AM CoE to address the gaps. The workshop will take place at The Union Complex at the University of Texas, El Paso.

Day 1: AM Common Data Dictionary and Its Applications These sessions will focus on data sharing and accessibility, and will introduce the first version of Additive Manufacturing (AM) Common Data Dictionary (CDD) developed by the AM Data Management Working Group. Organized in collaboration with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), this interactive workshop will explore the role of the CDD in applying and sharing AM data. The workshop conclusion will be a panel session of industry, government, and academic experts. The workshop follows up on the the recent AM CoE Additive Manufacturing Data Management and Schema workshop held in December 2019.

Day 2: AM Value Chain – Technical Review These sessions, jointly organized by the ASTM International AM CoE and America Makes, will offer attendees a general understanding of the entire additive manufacturing (AM) process, including data, feedstock, design and simulation, process qualification, and inspection, as well as AM application requirements for industry sectors such as aerospace, medical, defense, energy, construction, and automotive. The workshop will also cover gaps in AM standardization and research initiatives by the AM CoE partners to address these gaps.

An understanding of the entire AM process is valuable to help keep pace with today’s rapidly growing and changing AM technologies. New AM technologies and application requirements are regularly introduced in the market.
