Symposia / General Information

F42 Additive Manufacturing Technologies
Pre-registration requested to attend this meeting.

ABOUT THE EVENT

The Fourth ASTM Symposium on Structural Integrity of Additive Manufactured Materials and Parts will be held October 7-10, 2019 in Washington, DC. The Symposium will be sponsored by the ASTM Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence (AM CoE), and ASTM Committees F42.90.05 on Additive Manufacturing (Research and Innovation), E08 on Fatigue and Fracture, E07 on Nondestructive Testing, F04 on Medical and Surgical Materials and Devices, B09 on Metal Powders and Metal Powder Products, D20 on Plastics, and D30 on Composite Materials.

Additionally, the symposium is supported by the America Makes, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Food & Drug Administration (FDA), European Structural Integrity Society (ESIS) TC15 and National Science Foundation (NSF).

Objective
To ensure the structural integrity of additive manufactured parts, there is a need for establishing process-structure-property-performance relationships; specifically, as they pertain to fatigue and fracture behavior of these components and structures. This event will provide a forum for the exchange of ideas regarding the structural integrity of materials and components fabricated using additive manufacturing with a focus on the lack of industry standards, design principals, as well as qualification and certification criteria. This event is designed for professionals within the AM community including industrial (aerospace, medical, automotive and defense), academic, government and regulatory.
