In light of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and our priority for the health and welfare of our members and staff, ASTM International has decided that it is inadvisable and impractical to hold the committee meetings in Prague on April 27-May 1. The decision was based on several factors, including, but not limited to:
Staff managers will be contacting committee leaders to plan alternatives for conducting committee business. For any committees that collected money for events, ASTM will work to issue refunds as necessary. Attendees are responsible for cancelling their own hotel reservations.
Looking forward, we will rely on these and other relevant criteria and input points to assess the status of future scheduled ASTM meetings and events. Please consult our meeting webpage for the most up-to-date information. Thank you for your understanding and continued commitment to ASTM International.
Title: 10th International Workshop on Radiation Processing
Dates: Sunday September 19 2021 - Thursday September 23 2021
Location: Grandior Hotel Prague; Prague, CZ
Event Name: E61 Virtual June 2020 Meeting
ASTM International’s Committee E61 on Radiation Processing is pleased to announce that the 10th International Workshop on Radiation Processing will be held in Prague, Czech Republic September 21-23, 2021.
The workshop follows the very successful nine previous workshops given in North America and Europe. The tenth workshop continues to evolve in order to provide the most value to those attending and results in the change of workshop name from ‘Dosimetry for radiation processing’ to ‘Radiation processing’. Whilst the change is subtle it allows for the broadening of scope to give attendees an end to end view of radiation processing, not just dosimetric aspects. In keeping with the previous workshops there will be focus on practical examples and case studies, highlighting the way in which ASTM documents can be leveraged.
This workshop will provide an optimum combination of plenary presentations, hands-on practical exercises in which all attendees are expected to participate, informal "roundtable" sessions, and case studies. Please plan to register early, as we expect to reach our limit of 75 technical participants quickly. Attendees will be accepted on a "first-come-first-serve" basis.
Scope and Objective
Standards published by ASTM International’s Committee E61, many of which are also recognized as ISO standards, will form the basis for the discussions and hands-on exercises. In addition, the workshop will cover broader aspects of radiation processing such as microbiology, setting product specifications, regulatory challenges and change control challenges alongside the more seasoned topics of dosimetry selection, calibration, dose mapping and process control. Attendees will use hands-on activities to reinforce the standard practices identified in ASTM standards.
The objective is to improve the attendee’s knowledge and understanding of radiation processing to facilitate high quality decision making during their routine application.
Who Should Attend?
This workshop is intended for those individuals involved with their organization’s radiation processes. This would include individuals who are irradiator operators, dosimeter suppliers, healthcare products manufacturers, food processors, regulatory personnel, inspectors, etc. Attendees will have the opportunity to bring their questions to leaders in the radiation processing field. The workshop format is designed to provide maximum interaction between participants resulting in mutual benefits for all.
The workshop will feature an updated format whereby recorded plenary presentation material will be sent to registrants approximately one month in advance of the workshop week. This change will allow for a wider range of topics to be covered during the workshop, as well as allowing for participants to gain more fundamental understanding of material prior to hands on and case study sessions. Discussion (roundtable) sessions, group meals and social gatherings will allow participants to share their experiences and ask questions. There will also be a method to submit anonymous questions on pertinent challenges currently faced by industry prior to the workshop of which a panel of experts will aim to address throughout the workshop week.
The Workshop will address the following major topics during the plenary and hands-on sessions:
Poster and Demonstration Session
There will be a poster session where, by prior arrangement, attendees may present their latest work. There will also be demonstrations of equipment and technology where attendees can meet "one-on-one" with developers, manufacturers, and users of current and new dosimetry systems. This session will focus on research activities and user/manufacturer interactions.
Registration will open in early 2021. The fees to attend will include workshop registration, lunch and refreshment breaks each day, Sunday evening welcome reception, Wednesday evening poster session social, and Thursday evening closing banquet. The non-member fee also includes a 1-year membership to ASTM International. All participants are expected to stay for the full workshop.
|ASTM Member Fee||1120.00|
