ABOUT THE EVENT
A Sensory Quality Workshop will be held Wednesday, April 9, 2014 from 1:00pm-6:00pm. Sponsored by ASTM Committee E18 on Sensory Evaluation, the workshop will be held at the Sheraton Toronto in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in conjunction with the April standards development meetings of the committee.
Sensory quality defines the value of products and consumer experience. Managing sensory quality requires a comprehensive measurement program and a clear connection to the consumer. This workshop will explore the practical application of sensory quality programs and the methods that are used in conducting and maintaining a quality program. The workshop will start with a presentation on Sensory Quality at the LCBO, by Dr. George Soleas, Executive Vice President Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO).
LCBO is an Ontario government enterprise and one of the world's largest buyers and retailers of beverage alcohol. Through more than 630 retail stores and catalogues, it offers nearly 18,000 products annually to consumers and licensed establishments. LCBO's Quality Assurance also conducts 500,000 tests annually on more than 23,000 different products. This testing helps ensure all products sold by LCBO, Ontario winery outlets and beer stores meet regulatory requirements for composition, packaging, labeling and LCBO's high standards for quality and taste.
There will be three breakout groups of 20 people each (max 60) who will rotate through the three workshop activities.
