    About the Event

    The Workshop on Standards for Laboratory Evaluation of Corrosion Inhibitors for Oil and Gas Industry: Where are we and Where do we go from here? will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2019. This workshop is sponsored by ASTM Committee G01 on Corrosion of Metals and will be held at the Marriott Marquis Houston in Houston, TX, in conjunction with the November standards development meetings of the committee.

    Objectives
    • Review the current status of ASTM Standards on corrosion inhibitors
    • Identify opportunities to develop additional standards and/or to further improve current ASTM standards
    • Identify companies/laboratories who are interested in participating in future ASTM Interlaboratory tests on corrosion inhibitors
    • Develop opportunities to liaison with other associations on corrosion inhibitors evaluation, selection, and, usage.
    Topics
    • Standards available to evaluate corrosion inhibitors in the laboratory.
    • Best practices used by companies to evaluate corrosion inhibitors in the laboratory.
    • Experience from conducting inter-laboratory round-robin tests.
    • Laboratory to Field correlation on the performance of corrosion inhibitors.
    • Challenges and opportunities to quantify corrosion inhibitor performance in the laboratory and in the field.

    All Attendees – All attendees, including presenters and ASTM members, must register for this event. If you do not register online by the closing date, then you must register at the ASTM registration desk before attending the workshop. All attendees must check in at the ASTM registration desk to pick up their name badge prior to entering the workshop.

    Students – A student’s fee is waived, provided he/she is a full-time student and is not employed full time. After registering online, the student must check in at the ASTM Registration Desk on site and present his/her student ID.

    Cancellation

    Continuing Education Units

    Workshop attendees interested in receiving 0.7 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) must complete the CEU application form in the back of the program booklet and submit it to an ASTM staff member on site. You must be registered and have attended the entire workshop in order to receive the CEU’s. A certificate will be sent to the attendee approximately 4 to 6 weeks after the workshop.

    Hotel Information

    All meetings will be held at the Marriott Marquis Houston, 1777 Walker Street, Houston, TX, 77010.

    Hotel Reservations: Staying at our contracted Hotel is important to ASTM International and ultimately to you as an ASTM member. When you stay outside of the official ASTM International guest room block, ASTM is charged a penalty fee when our contractual guest room commitment is not realized.     The discounted rate will be honored until the ASTM block is full, but no later than October 4th 2019. The ASTM rate is $199 plus tax. You may be charged a higher rate if reservations are received after the cut-off date, or when the block is full. The hotel requires a deposit of one night's room and tax or a major credit card to guarantee your reservation, once submitted a confirmation number will be provided electronically.

    CANCELLATION/CHANGE POLICY: At The Marriott Marquis Houston, notice of cancellation must be received 72 hours prior to day of arrival, in order to avoid a charge.

    ASTM MEMBERS WORK AREA: ASTM will provide computers with internet connections. This area will also be wireless for your laptop computer. You may visit the ASTM website, apply or renew your membership, order publications or check your email. The complimentary wireless service is limited to the members' work area and the meeting rooms.


    Dress and Weather

    Attendees have the option to determine their dress at ASTM meetings. Business casual attire is acceptable at this meeting and appropriate for Houston TX. The average temperatures in November range from a high of 73 degrees Fahrenheit to a low of 52 degrees Fahrenheit.
