    About the Event

The Symposium on the Technologies and Metrology of Checkpoint Screening Equipment will be held Wednesday and Thursday, April 5-6, 2017. Sponsored by ASTM Committee F12 on Security Systems and Equipment, the symposium will be held at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel in Toronto, ON, Canada, in conjunction with the April 2017 standards development meetings of Committee.

    Objective
The objective of this symposium is to provide a forum to discuss the state of metrology for security checkpoint technologies, the development and innovation of these technologies, and the opportunity for documentary standards development.

    Scope
This symposium will consider two primary topics: 1) the metrology associated with the mature technologies used in safety and security search and screening equipment and 2) the technology being developed to advance search and screening capability. The discussion on the metrology will include the development of test methods, the design of test objects, uncertainty analyses, and documentary standards. The technology portion will include descriptions of those technologies that have been recently been introduced into the security/safety market and/or hardware or software modifications that can improve the performance of safety/security search and screening equipment.

    Topics:

    • metal detector – advances, metrology, documentary standards
    • close-range person screening and imaging technologies – advances, metrology, documentary standards
    • small item screening and imaging technologies - advances, metrology, documentary standards
    • stand-off person tracking/imaging technologies - advances, metrology

The language of the symposium will be English.
