Abstracts for presentation are invited for the Workshop on Antimicrobial Combination Devices to be held Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 1:00pm-5:00pm. This workshop is sponsored by ASTM Committee F04 on Medical and Surgical Materials and Devices and will be held at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta in Atlanta, GA, in conjunction with the November standards development meetings of Committee F04.
Objective and Scope
This workshop will discuss unmet needs regarding standards for antimicrobial combination devices including antimicrobial coatings on implants, antibiotic addition to bone cement, and antibiotic eluting devices. Other objectives include a discussion of regulatory hurdles in bringing these devices to market. Topics for this workshop include FDA regulatory issues and clinical scope and missing standards for the following three sessions: antibiotic bone cement, antimicrobial coatings on medical devices, and medical devices that elute antibiotics.
A technical program (presentation times, paper titles, and presenters’ names) will be posted on the ASTM website in early August 2017.

Students – A student’s fee is waived, provided that he/she is a full-time student and is not employed full time. After registering online, the student must check in at the ASTM Registration Desk on site and present his/her student ID.
All attendees, including presenters and ASTM members, are urged to register online for this event so that space requirements can be accommodated. If you do not register online by the closing date, then you must register upon arrival at the workshop. All attendees must check in at the ASTM registration desk upon arrival at workshop.

Workshop attendees interested in receiving 0.35 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) should complete a CEU application form at the adjournment of the workshop, and then submit it to the ASTM staff member on site. A certificate will be sent to the attendee approximately 4 to 6 weeks after the workshop.
