Symposium on Beyond the Implant: Retrieval Analysis Methods for Implant Surveillance symposium to be held May 9, 2017. Sponsored by ASTM Committee F04 on Medical and surgical Materials and Devices, the symposium will be held at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel in Toronto, ON, Canada, in conjunction with the May standards development meetings of Committee F04.
The purpose of this symposium is to present and discuss current and new analysis techniques to improve upon the knowledge we can obtain from retrieval analysis of orthopedic implants. As a follow up to the successful workshop which took place in November 2015, this symposium will aim to bring to light the current state of standards and techniques utilized in the field as well as to compare these techniques to other new investigative methods. New techniques to analyze host factors that are significant to success of devices both locally and systemically will also be discussed.

Students – A student's fee is waived, provided that he/she is a full-time student and is not employed full time. After registering online, the student must check in at the ASTM Registration Desk on site and present his/her student ID. The waived fee includes admission to the technical sessions only.

Workshop attendees interested in receiving 0.70 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) should complete a CEU application form at the adjournment of the workshop, and then submit it to the ASTM staff member on site. A certificate will be sent to the attendee approximately 4 to 6 weeks after the workshop.
