E54 Homeland Security Applications

    About the Event

ASTM Committee E54 on Homeland Security Applications will be hosting a workshop focused on standards for body armor used in non-law enforcement applications (e.g., Fire and EMS). The workshop will be held on Monday, February 3, 2020 from 8:00am to noon and then followed by Committee Task Group Meetings in the afternoon. The goal of this workshop is to discuss the body armor standards needs and requirements of Fire, EMS, and other non-law enforcement end-users, and to share information from body armor experts.

Representatives from EMS and Fire organizations will discuss how they are procuring and using body armor; representatives from law enforcement will describe their experiences and knowledge related to selection and procurement, fit and coverage, training, use, and care of body armor. Body armor manufacturers will be presenting their body armor products intended for EMS and Fire applications. The outcomes from this workshop will guide development of standards to assist the expanded body armor end-user community.
