Staff managers will be contacting committee leaders to plan alternatives for conducting committee business. For any committees that collected money for events, ASTM will work to issue refunds as necessary. Attendees are responsible for cancelling their own hotel reservations.

The Symposium on Building Science and the Physics of Building Enclosure Performance will be held on October 21-22, 2018 at the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C. The symposium is co-sponsored by ASTM Committee E06 on Performance of Buildings and Committee D08 on Roofing and Waterproofing, and will take place in conjunction with the October standards development meetings of Committee E06.
This two-day event will be the first of two parts, the second of which taking place in December 2018. The symposium will provide a forum for the exchange of ideas on current research regarding building science and the physics of building enclosure and whole building performance, with an emphasis on transitions between the horizontal and the vertical and the critical points of intersection; testing and assessment of heat, air, and moisture transfer; energy use, and the environment. The program will begin with an opening keynote and continue with topics such as:

This is a two-part symposium. Part 1 will take place on Sunday-Monday, October 21-22, 2018. Part 2 will take place on Sunday, December 2, 2018. A discounted registration fee for Part 2 is available for those who attend both events. All Attendees – All attendees, including presenters and ASTM members, must register for this event. If you do not register online by the closing date, then you must register at the ASTM registration desk before attending the workshop. All attendees must check in at the ASTM registration desk to pick up their name badge prior to entering the workshop.
Students – A student’s fee is waived, provided he or she is a full-time student. After registering online, the student must check in at the ASTM Registration Desk on site and present his/her student ID. The waived fee includes admission to the technical sessions and does not include admittance to the reception or receiving a copy of the proceedings as described above.

Hotel Reservations: Staying at our contracted hotel is important to ASTM, to the hotel where we are holding this meeting, and ultimately to you as an ASTM member. When you reserve a guest room at another hotel and an ASTM contracted group sleeping room goes unsold, ASTM is liable and must pay a non-performance penalty fee to the hotel. Please support ASTM by reserving your sleeping room at our official hotel. Reservations may be made via the hotel's online reservation system at Washington Hilton. One night's room and tax deposit is required to confirm a reservation.
The discounted rate will be honored until the ASTM block is full, but no later than September 21st, 2018. ASTM rates are $187 plus tax. You may be charged a higher rate if reservations are received after the cut-off date, or when the block is full.
