In light of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and our priority for the health and welfare of our members and staff, ASTM International has decided that it is inadvisable and impractical to hold the committee meetings in Prague on April 27-May 1. The decision was based on several factors, including, but not limited to:

    • Continued review of information and recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO) and other governmental bodies.
    • Input from our members whose organizations are increasingly concerned with travel and the large gathering in Prague.
    • Watching the expanding trajectory of the coronavirus.

Staff managers will be contacting committee leaders to plan alternatives for conducting committee business. For any committees that collected money for events, ASTM will work to issue refunds as necessary. Attendees are responsible for cancelling their own hotel reservations.

Looking forward, we will rely on these and other relevant criteria and input points to assess the status of future scheduled ASTM meetings and events. Please consult our meeting webpage for the most up-to-date information. Thank you for your understanding and continued commitment to ASTM International.

    About the Event

A Workshop on Impact of Moisture in the Built Environment: Prevention, Evaluation, Response and Due Diligence will be held Thursday, April 30, 2015 8:00am - 5:00pm. Sponsored by ASTM Committees D22.08 on Sampling and Analysis of Mold and E50 on Environmental Assessment, Risk Management and Corrective Action, the workshop will be held at the Marriott Anaheim in Anaheim, CA, in conjunction with the April standards development meetings of the committees.

    Objective
The workshop is designed to provide a platform for education and for the exchange of ideas and information on the issues surrounding moisture in buildings, highlight the ASTM standards that assist in the evaluation of and response to these conditions, identify areas where standards are needed and reach out to users and interested parties to bring awareness to how ASTM standards can help raise the bar for the prevention, evaluation, response and due diligence. Topics to be explored include:

    • evaluation of a residential or commercial building for water intrusion and fungal growth
    • what inspectors, buyers and sellers should know about screening buildings
    • appropriate responses to water intrusion
    • emerging technologies
    • significance of due diligence and disclosure
    • a highlight about legionella risks associated with water systems in buildings.

The workshop will include presentations, case studies, and panel discussions to allow ample interaction among all participants.

Attend this workshop to get the latest on the standards and practices regarding the impact of moisture in the built environment.
