In light of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and our priority for the health and welfare of our members and staff, ASTM International has decided that it is inadvisable and impractical to hold the committee meetings in Prague on April 27-May 1. The decision was based on several factors, including, but not limited to:
Staff managers will be contacting committee leaders to plan alternatives for conducting committee business. For any committees that collected money for events, ASTM will work to issue refunds as necessary. Attendees are responsible for cancelling their own hotel reservations.
Looking forward, we will rely on these and other relevant criteria and input points to assess the status of future scheduled ASTM meetings and events. Please consult our meeting webpage for the most up-to-date information. Thank you for your understanding and continued commitment to ASTM International.
Title: Symposium on Graphite Testing for Nuclear Applications: The Validity and Extension of Test Methods for Material Exposed to Operating Reactor Environments
Dates: Thursday September 23 2021 - Friday September 24 2021
Location: Virtual; ,
The Symposium on Graphite Testing for Nuclear Applications: The Validity and Extension of Test Methods for Material Exposed to Operating Reactor Environments will be held Thursday and Friday, September 23-24, 2021. Sponsored by ASTM Subcommittee D02.F on Manufactured Carbon and Graphite Products, the symposium will be held virtually via Webex.Objective and Scope
The ASTM D02.F subcommittee has developed and continues to maintain a suite of standards and guides for graphite testing, the majority of which were developed with the participation of graphite manufacturers for use on as-manufactured graphite where there are no specimen volume or geometry constraints. Over recent years, the subcommittee has focused on nuclear applications and the applicability of these standards to small specimens and small specimen populations. This symposium will provide a forum for national laboratories, academics, nuclear graphite specialists, new reactor designers, nuclear regulators and individuals working in the nuclear waste management and decommissioning industry to develop this theme further by reviewing the applicability of standards to materials exposed to operating reactor environments.
Topics for this symposium include, but are not limited to:
Particular attention should be given to processes for the handling and testing of material, the implications of test result validity in the absence of certified standards, and confidence in and representativeness of test results in the context of operating plant conditions.
The language of the symposium will be English.

Registration for this event is now closed.
|ASTM Member Fee||50.00|
Symposium attendees interested in receiving 0.9 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) should complete a CEU application form at the adjournment of the symposium and submit it to ASTM Symposia Operations. A certificate will be emailed to the attendee approximately 4 to 6 weeks after the symposium.
