    About the Event

    The Sixth Symposium on the Durability of Building and Construction Sealants and Adhesives will be held June 14-15, 2017. Sponsored by ASTM Committee C24 on Building Seals and Sealants, the symposium will be held at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, in conjunction with the June standards development meetings of Committee C24.

    The symposium will provide a forum for the global sealant and adhesives community to continue the discussion on the durability of structural and weatherproofing sealants and adhesives. This will give the community a chance to present current research and research needs, as well as standards development opportunities and needs.

    The topics for this symposium will focus on the aspects of sealant durability, which include: outdoor exposure, characterization, finite element modeling, monitoring of critical properties, development of accelerated testing, relating accelerated testing to in-service performance and modeling of sealant durability.

    The language of the symposium will be English.

    Registration Information

    Online registration opens approximately 10 weeks before the symposium and closes June 7, 2017. The fees to attend this symposium are listed below.

    These fees include:

    • Admission to the Wednesday evening reception,
    • A copy of the resulting Selected Technical Papers (STP will be sent to all symposium attendees once it is has been published). The STP is a printed volume of peer-reviewed symposium papers.

    Students A student's fee is waived, provided that he/she is a full-time student and is not employed full time. After registering online, the student must check in at the ASTM Registration Desk on site and present his/her student ID. The waived fee includes admission to the technical sessions only and does not include the Wednesday evening reception or the resulting STP described above.

    All attendees, including presenters and ASTM members, are urged to register online for this event so that space requirements can be accommodated. If you do not register online by the closing date, then you must register on-site. All attendees must check in at the ASTM registration desk upon arrival at symposium.

    Continuing Education Units

    Symposium attendees interested in receiving 1.4 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) should complete a CEU application form at the adjournment of the symposium, and then submit it to the ASTM staff member on site. A certificate will be sent to the attendee approximately 4 to 6 weeks after the symposium.

    Hotel Information

    All meetings will be held at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel,123 Queen Street West Toronto, Ontario M5H 2M9, Canada. Reservations may be made via our online reservation system at Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel Reservations.

    Select your dates and proceed as instructed. Reservations may also be made by telephoning the hotel at (416)361-1000 or 1-800-325-3535 (you must mention ASTM May 2017 in order to receive the group rate). If you need assistance with your hotel reservation, please call the hotel directly.

    Group rate will be honored until the ASTM block is full but no later than May 15, 2017. ASTM rates are $198 (US) plus tax. You may be charged a higher rate if reservations are received after the cut-off date, or when the block is full.The hotel requires a credit card to guarantee your reservation, once submitted a confirmation number will be provided electronically.

    IMPORTANT! ASTM Rates are non-commissionable. If you book your reservation through a travel agent, they must ask for a non-commissioned ASTM Group Rate. ASTM cannot adjust your higher rate if commissions were paid to a travel agency.

    CANCELLATION/CHANGE POLICY: At the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel, notice of cancellation must be received 24 hours prior to day of arrival in order to avoid a charge.

    INTERNET: The hotel offers complimentary wireless connections in the guest rooms for SPG Members.

    ASTM MEMBERS WORK AREA: ASTM will provide computers with internet connections. This area will also be wireless for your laptop computer. You may visit the ASTM website, apply or renew your membership, order publications or check your email. The complimentary wireless service is limited to the members' work area and the meeting rooms.
