C18 Dimension Stone


    About the Event

    The Symposium on Dimension Stone Use in the Built Environment will be held Wednesday and Thursday, April 1-2, 2020. Sponsored by ASTM Committee C18 on Dimension Stone, the symposium will be held at the Boston Marriott Copley Place in Boston, MA in conjunction with the April standards development meetings of the committee.

    Objective

    Dimension stone cladding and paving systems continue to evolve and present challenges to design professionals, owners, and installation, repair, and restoration contractors. This symposium is intended to bring together the diverse interests of professionals in the dimension stone community involved with the design, construction, evaluation, and use of dimension stone for a formal exchange of information on the behavior of dimension stone in the built environment.

    Topics will include, but are not limited to:

    • Physical and/or mechanical properties
    • Design
    • Evaluation and investigation
    • Durability
    • Maintenance
    • Restoration

    The language of the symposium will be English.

    Registration Information

    Online registration is now open and closes March 25, 2020.

    All Attendees - All attendees, including presenters and ASTM members, are urged to register online for this event so that space requirements can be accommodated. If you do not register online by the closing date, then you must register upon arrival at the symposium. All attendees must check in at the ASTM registration desk upon arrival at symposium.

    Students – A student’s fee is waived, provided that he/she is a full-time student and is not employed full time. After registering online, the student must check in at the ASTM Registration Desk on site and present his/her student ID.

    Continuing Education Units

    Symposium attendees interested in receiving 0.6 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) must complete the CEU application form in the back of the program booklet and submit it to an ASTM staff member on site. You must be registered and have attended the entire workshop in order to receive the CEU’s. A certificate will be sent to the attendee approximately 4 to 6 weeks after the conclusion of the symposium.

    The discounted rate will be honored until the ASTM block is full, but no later than February 27th, 2020. The ASTM rate is $209 plus tax.     IMPORTANT! ASTM Rates are non-commissionable. If you book your reservation through a travel agent, they must ask for a non-commissioned ASTM Group Rate. ASTM cannot adjust your higher rate if commissions were paid to a travel agency.

    CANCELLATION/CHANGE POLICY: At The Boston Marriott Copley Place, notice of cancellation must be received 72 hours before your arrival day, in order to avoid incurring one night's room and tax penalty charge.

    PUBLIC TRANSIT: The most convenient transit option to the Boston Marriott Copley Place, from the Boston Logan International Airport is to travel using the Logan Express bus service. The Logan Express will pick-up and drop off travelers from terminals A, B, C and E. From the terminal you will take the Back Bay bus route. The station closest to the Boston Marriott Copley Place is the Back Bay stop, about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Cost per ticket is $3.
