    About the Event

    The Masonry 2018 Symposium will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina in San Diego, CA. The Symposium is co-Sponsored by ASTM Committees C01 on Cement, C07 on Lime, C12 on Mortars and Grouts for Unit Masonry, and C15 on Manufactured Masonry Units. The Symposium will be held in conjunction with the standards development meetings of the committees.

    Objective
    The objective of Masonry 2018 Symposium is to gather and disseminate the latest information on all aspects of the innovations in masonry materials, design, specification, construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation. It will emphasize the application of ASTM standards to those areas, and their coordination with building codes, project specifications, and international standards.

    Registration Information

    Online registration is now open and closes June 20, 2018. The fees to attend this symposium are listed below.

    Students
    A student’s fee is waived, provided that he/she is a full-time student and is not employed full time. After registering online, the student must check in at the ASTM Registration Desk on site and present his/her student ID.

    All attendees, including presenters and ASTM members, are urged to register online for this event so that space requirements can be accommodated. If you do not register online by the closing date, then you must register upon arrival at the symposium. All attendees must check in at the ASTM registration desk upon arrival at symposium.

    Cancellations

    Continuing Education Units

    Symposium attendees interested in receiving 0.55 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) should complete a CEU application form at the adjournment of the symposium, and then submit it to the ASTM staff member on site. A certificate will be sent to the attendee approximately 4 to 6 weeks after the symposium.

    Hotel Information

    All meetings will be held at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina, 1380 Harbor Island, San Diego, CA 92101.

    There are two towers in this hotel, please take note when booking your hotel room which tower your committee will be meeting in.The following committee meetings will be held in the Bay Tower: A04, B08, C11, D05, D15, E01, E04, E28, F15, F16, G04. All other committee meetings and registration will be held in the Marina Tower. Committee Week Services will be provided in both towers.

    Hotel Reservations: Staying at our contracted hotel is important to ASTM, to the destination where we are holding this meeting, and ultimately to you as an ASTM member. When you book a hotel outside of the block, and a contracted room goes unsold, we must pay penalty fes to the hotel. Please support ASTM by reserving your sleeping room at our official hotel.Reservations may be made via our online reservation system at Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina Reservations.

    Select your dates and proceed as instructed. Reservations may also be made by telephoning the hotel at 1-877-734-2726 (you must mention ASTM in order to receive the group rate). If you need assistance with your hotel reservation, please call the hotel directly.

    The discounted rate will be honored until the ASTM block is full, but no later than May 18, 2018. ASTM rates are $199 plus tax. You may be charged a higher rate if reservations are received after the cut-off date, or when the block is full. The hotel requires a credit card to guarantee your reservation, once submitted a confirmation number will be provided electronically.

    The Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina has a limited number of rooms at the government per diem rate, nights still available are June 25, 26, & 27. If you are eligible for the government rate select “I have an access code” and enter ASF19B. Reservations may be made via our online reservation system at Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina Government Reservations. You must present your ID at the front desk upon check-in.

    IMPORTANT! ASTM Rates are non-commissionable. If you book your reservation through a travel agent, they must ask for a non-commissioned ASTM Group Rate. ASTM cannot adjust your higher rate if commissions were paid to a travel agency.

    CANCELLATION/CHANGE POLICY: At the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina Hotel, notice of cancellation must be received 3 days prior to day of arrival in order to avoid a charge.Failure to do so will incure a penalty equal to the cost of one night's room and tax.

    ASTM MEMBERS WORK AREA: ASTM will provide computers with internet connections. This area will also be wireless for your laptop computer. You may visit the ASTM website, apply or renew your membership, order publications or check your email. The complimentary wireless service is limited to the members' work area and the meeting rooms.

    Dress and Weather

    Attendees have the option to determine their dress at ASTM meetings. Business casual attire is acceptable at this meeting and appropriate for San Diego. The average temperatures in June range from a high of 72 degrees Fahrenheit to a low of 62 degrees Fahrenheit.
