Round Robin Participation Sought for Thermal Stability Test Method

Members of ASTM Committee D02 on Petroleum Products and Lubricants are seeking round-robin testing participation for the proposed test method, “Standard Test Method for Thermal Stability of Organic Heat Transfer Fluids.”

The method is currently being balloted within Committee D02. Participants must have the ability to perform ASTM D 2887, Standard Test Method for Boiling Range Distribution of Petroleum Fractions by Gas Chromatography, with an open tubular type column at least five meters in length and a flame ionization type detector. In addition, participants must have a heating oven capable of being controlled within +/- 1 degree C when operating at temperatures from 260 to 427 degree C.

To participate or comment, contact D02 member Gerald Guffey, Eastman Chemical Company, Kingsport, TN (phone: 423/229-1095; fax: 423/229-6099). Committee D02 meets June 17-22 in San Diego, Calif. For meeting or membership details, contact Staff Manager Dave Bradley, ASTM (610/832-9681). //
