Robert D. Thompson Memorial Award - Guidelines


    The Robert D. Thompson Award is presented once a year to a member of Committee E20 on Temperature Measurement of at least three years standing, which has performed outstanding work in the committee. The award established in 1975, honors Robert D. Thompson, the first Chairman of Committee E20


    The Award is administered by an Awards Task Group. Appointments of the Awards Task Group members shall be for three-year staggered terms. An appointment of the Chairman of the Awards Task Group shall be made annually by the Chairman of E20.

    Each year the Awards Task Group shall consider the eligibility of committee members for the award. If, in the opinion of the Awards Group, no person is worthy of the award, none shall be given that year.

    The Awards Group shall select the recipient and shall notify the Secretary of Committee E20 no later than three months prior to the time of presentation of the name and address of the recipient.

    The Secretary of Committee E20 shall advise the Staff Manager of the Committee of its decision two months prior to the time of the presentation.

    The Awards Task Group shall cooperate with the Secretary of Committee E20 and with the Awards Administrator of the Society in arrangements for securing and presenting the award.

    The presentation of the award shall be made at an appropriate meeting of Committee E20 by an officer of Committee E20. Committee E20 shall have authority to decide any questions not specifically covered by these rules, and the rules may be modified upon recommendation of the Awards Task Group.


    The Robert D. Thompson Award shall consist of a walnut plaque with a personalized citation and scanned signature of the Chairman of Committee E20.
