    Registration:

    Pre-register for Committee(s) Meeting(s) - There is no fee to attend an ASTM Meeting but registration is required (note: meeting registration only, contact hotel for accommodations).

    SCHEDULE

    PREREGISTRATION

    You must be registered to attend ASTM Meetings. Use our online registration form where you can register for multiple events, pay fees in advance using a credit card, and receive an electronic confirmation. You may register online at the "Register" link above.

    When you preregister online, you will receive emails on committee meetings, final announcements, and other information that will help you prepare for your meeting. The registration information significantly assists us in preparations for the committee week.

    The cut-off for preregistration is Wednesday, March 25th, 2020. After this date, please register on-site at the ASTM Registration Desk at the Boston Marriott Copley Place.


    HOTEL INFORMATION

    All meetings will be held at Boston Marriott Copley Place, 110 Huntington Ave, Boston MA 02116.

    Hotel Reservations: The April Committee Week hotel provides prime meeting space for your committee meetings, events and activities. ASTM International is legally bound to fill the contracted guest room block and an inability to fill the block will result in severe financial penalties which could affect negotiations and increase costs for future meetings. Please support ASTM International by reserving your sleeping room at our official April Committee Week Hotel and Meeting site.

    Reservations may be made via the hotel's online reservation system at Boston Marriott Copley Place. Reservations may also be made by telelphoning the hotel directly at 877-901-2079 (Toll-Free Reservations).

    The discounted rate will be honored until the ASTM block is full, but no later than February 27th, 2020. The ASTM rate is $209 plus tax. You may be charged a higher rate if reservations are received after the cut-off date, or when the block is full. The hotel requires a major credit card to guarantee your reservation, once submitted a confirmation number will be provided electronically.

    Certain nights at the Boston Marriott Copley Place are currently sold out. We have secured a limited number of rooms at The Sheraton Boston Hotel.

    IMPORTANT! ASTM Rates are non-commissionable. If you book your reservation through a travel agent, they must ask for a non-commissioned ASTM Group Rate. ASTM cannot adjust your higher rate if commissions were paid to a travel agency.

    INTERNET: The Boston Marriott Copley Place offers complimentary in-room Wi-fi for all guests under the ASTM group rate.

    CANCELLATION/CHANGE POLICY: At The Boston Marriott Copley Place, notice of cancellation must be received 72 hours before your arrival day, in order to avoid incurring one night's room and tax penalty charge.


    TRANSPORTATION AND DIRECTIONS

    PUBLIC TRANSIT: The most convenient transit option to the Boston Marriott Copley Place, from the Boston Logan International Airport is to travel using the Logan Express bus service. The Logan Express will pick-up and drop off travelers from terminals A, B, C and E. From the terminal you will take the Back Bay bus route. The station closest to the Boston Marriott Copley Place is the Back Bay stop, about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Cost per ticket is $3.     TAXI: Taxis in Boston are available for curbside pick-up at the Boston Logan International Airport, located in all terminals. There are various Taxi companies in the Boston area to choose from.     ASTM TRAINING SESSIONS

    ASTM staff will provide several training sessions on various subjects to educate and assist officers, members and non-members of ASTM committees. The following topics will be discussed:

  • ASTM International Welcome and Orientation (Monday) 12:00pm-1:00pm

    Meeting attendees are invited to a welcome and orientation session. This session will provide a brief introduction to ASTM, its process electronic tools, and international activities. This is an interactive session and questions are encouraged as we like attendees to feel comfortable in participating at their standards meetings. Facilitated by ASTM staff, this session provides new and experienced members and visitors a chance to connect at the beginning of the Committee Week.

  • The Standards Developing and Balloting Process (Wednesday) 12:00pm-1:00pm

    During this joint Technical Committee Operations and Editorial Module, we will focus on the process of standards development for new and existing standards. Topics covered include: Committee Balance, Subcommittee and Main Committee Balloting, review of the role of COS (Committee on Standards), handling of Negative votes, and the role of the editor and technical contact. This session will provide important and useful information and is intended for all members.

  • Workshop: Introduction to the Interlaboratory Study Program (ILS) (Monday) 12:00pm - 1:00pm

    This module is designed to familiarize members with the ILS Program, its features, benefits, capabilities, and the online registration process. Research Reports will also be specifically addressed during the session. This workshop will benefit anyone planning to run (or participate in) an interlaboratory study to generate a precision statement for a new or existing ASTM test method. Presented by ASTM ILS Staff.

  • Workshop: E11 on Quality and Statistics Overview and Q&A (Wednesday) 08:00am - 9:00am

    This module is designed to familiarize members with the E11 Committee on Quality and Statistics, its most relevant standards, and the opportunity for Q&A with statisticians. This workshop will briefly touch on ASTM E691, one of the standards used as the basis for ASTM International’s ILS Program. The session will benefit any committees who have statistics questions and need support, or those that use/reference E11 standards and need clarification. Presented by E11 Committee Members.

  • Property Condition Assessments 1-Day Training (Thursday, April 2nd, 2020)

    This course gives an overview of the ASTM Property Condition Assessment (PCA) standard (ASTM E2018) and explains why it was developed. It provides an excellent guide on how to use the standard to conduct a baseline property condition assessment and how to prepare a Property Condition Report (PCR).

  • Phase I Environmental Site Assessment with Transaction Screening Training
    (Thursday, April 2nd & Friday, April 3rd, 2020)

    You’ll gain an understanding of the ASTM Phase I Environmental Site Assessment Process standard (ASTM E1527) and Transaction Screen Process (ASTM E1528), and how to use these standards, and how they affect the way you do business. The "Innocent Landowner Defense" under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA) will also be discussed, and instruction on why due diligence is necessary. Coverage also includes a discussion of changes to the E1527 standard as well as the Small Business Liability Relief and Brownfields Revitalization Act.

    COMMITTEE ACTIVITY FEES

    Several ASTM committees collect a voluntary fee to support activities associated within the committee such as awards, social events, etc. Each committee determines the amount and encourages your contribution. The activity fee can be paid online in advance on the preregistration page. This voluntary contribution is not an ASTM International society fee.


    SPECIAL ACTIVITY

    Several committees hold planned banquet events. You can purchase your tickets online in advance on the preregistration page. Your tickets will be available on-site at the Registration Area.



    COMPLIMENTARY SUPPORT SERVICES

    ASTM MEMBERS WORK AREA: ASTM will provide computers with internet connections. This area will also be wireless for your laptop computer. You may visit the ASTM website, apply or renew your membership, order publications or check your email. The complimentary wireless service is limited to the members' work area and the meeting rooms.

    ASTM meetings offer on-site services from the ASTM staff. We provide photocopying service, audio/visual equipment, and a members' work area with complimentary internet computers.


    SPOUSES' HOSPITALITY

    Join us for breakfast Monday through Thursday from 8:30am to 9:30am at the Boston Marriott Copley Place. For city information and brochures, contact the Boston CVB at Boston USA.


    DRESS/WEATHER

    Attendees have the option to determine their dress at ASTM meetings. Business casual attire is acceptable at this meeting and appropriate for Boston. The average temperatures in April range from a high of 57 degrees Fahrenheit to a low of 41 degrees Fahrenheit.


    MISCELLANEOUS

    Thank you for payment of an activity fee, special event fee, or symposia fee during your ASTM International meeting registration.

    ACTIVITY FEE: Activity Fees are a voluntary contribution to that committee, in the event you need a refund, please request by emailing meetings@astm.org. Due to the voluntary nature of this fee you may request a refund up to the last day of the event. You will see a refund on your credit card statement within 5 to 10 business days.

    SPECIAL EVENT FEE: For a special event fee, which may include banquet functions or committee activity such as; dinner, reception, lunch, or tours. All refunds must be requested within five (5) business days prior to the event. The refund will appear on your credit card within 5-10 business days.

    SYMPOSIA REFUND: A refund of the symposium fee will be honored only if requested at least 10 business days prior to the workshop.
