    Registration:

    Pre-register for Committee(s) Meeting(s) - There is no fee to attend an ASTM meeting, but registration is required (note: meeting registration only, contact hotel for accommodations).
    • Pre-registration on the ASTM website saves you time so you can go directly to the pre-registration counters on-site for badge retrieval
    • Pay in advance online for committee activity fees and/or food events to avoid paying on-site

    PREREGISTRATION

    You must be registered to attend ASTM Meetings. Use our online registration form where you have the ability to register for multiple events, pay fees in advance using a credit card, and receive an electronic confirmation. You may register online at the "Register" link above.

    When you preregister online, you will receive emails on committee meetings, final announcements, and other information that will help you prepare for your meeting. The registration information significantly assists us in preparations for the committee week.

    The cut-off for preregistration is Wednesday, December 5, 2018. After this date please register on-site at the ASTM Registration Desk at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis.


    HOTEL INFORMATION

    All meetings will be held at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis, 265 Peachtree Center Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30303.
    Reservations may be made via our online reservation system: Atlanta Marriott Marquis Reservations.

    Group rate will be honored until the ASTM block is full but no later than 11/9/2018. ASTM rates are $139 plus tax. You may be charged a higher rate if reservations are received after the cut-off date, or when the block is full.

    Reservations may also be made by telephoning the hotel at +1.404.521.0000. If you need assistance with your hotel reservation, please call the hotel directly. This hotel has a smoke-free policy; all public areas are non-smoking.

    IMPORTANT! ASTM Rates are non-commissionable. If you book your reservation through a travel agent, they must ask for a non-commissioned ASTM Group Rate. ASTM cannot adjust your higher rate if commissions were paid to a travel agency.

    ADVANCE DEPOSIT/ CANCELLATION POLICY: A guarantee deposit equal to one night's room and tax will be charged to the card on file upon booking your reservation. This deposit will be refundable should you cancel your reservation through the end of the business day on October 11, 2018. Deposits will be non-refundable for any cancellations made after October 12, 2018.

    ASTM MEMBERS' WORK AREA: ASTM will provide computers with internet connections. This area will also be wireless for your laptop computer. You may visit the ASTM website, apply or renew your membership, order publications or check your email. The complimentary wireless service is limited to the members' work area and the meeting rooms.

    The Atlanta Marriott Marquis has a limited number of rooms at the government per diem rate. Reservations may be made via our online reservation system: Atlanta Marriott Marquis Government Reservations. You must present your ID at the front desk upon check-in.

    INTERNET: The hotel offers complimentary wireless connections in public spaces. The hotel charges $14.95 per day in guest rooms.

    ASTM TRAINING SESSIONS

    ASTM staff will provide several education sessions on various subjects to educate and assist officers, members and non-members of ASTM committees. The following topics will be discussed:

  • Understanding Test Method Precision, Bias, ILS Design, Statistical Quality Control Charts, and TIER III SQC Requirements
    Saturday, December 8th, 8:30am - 4:30pm

    This one-day seminar will present an overview on test method precision, bias, ILS design, and statistical control charts. ASTM repeatability, reproducibility, intermediate precision, and bias will be discussed, along with ASTM D6300 ILS design requirements to establish r, R, and critical success factors. Test method "in-statistical-control" concept will be discussed along with control chart work process and tools per ASTM D6299. The seminar will wrap up with a brief discussion on EPA Tier III SQC requirements, followed by a general Q&A.

  • Workshop: Committee D02 Member Orientation
    Monday, 7:00am - 8:00am

    Meeting attendees are cordially invited to a special welcome and orientation session centered on international participants. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet other international meetings participants, including ASTM Member of the Board James Simnick. This session will provide a very brief introduction to ASTM, its activities, process, electronic tools and international outreach that connect you to ASTM's global network of experts and information. There will also be ample time to ask any questions. This session provides new and experienced international members and visitors a chance to connect at the Committee Week.

    ASTM Staff Support Question and Answer Sessions
    Monday & Tuesday, 8:00am - 10:15am and 3:00pm - 5:00pm
    Wednesday, 9:15am - 10:15am and 3:00pm - 5:00pm

    These Q&A sessions will provide members (new and experienced) with an opportunity to ask questions about ASTM systems and services. Members have access to electronic tools that facilitate your participation at any place, at any time. These tools prepare you for meetings, keep you informed, provide technical contact information, and ultimately enable your input to the consensus process. Staff will be on hand to "show you around" the website, provide information on registering work items, work item collaboration areas, submitting ballot items and online negative ballot resolutions, or simply help with administrative issues. Editorial Staff will also be available to provide assistance. Please feel free to drop in and ask questions!

  • Workshop: Introduction to the Interlaboratory Study Program (ILS)
    Monday, 12:00pm - 1:00pm

    This module is designed to familiarize members with the ILS Program, its features, benefits, capabilities, and the online registration process. Research Reports will also be specifically addressed during the session. This workshop will benefit anyone planning to run (or participate in) an interlaboratory study to generate a precision statement for a new or existing ASTM test method.

    Interlaboratory Studies (ILS) Question and Answer Sessions
    Monday - Wednesday, 8:00am - 10:00am and 3:00pm - 5:00pm

    In addition to the ILS Workshop schedule above, several ILS Q&A Sessions have been planned with ASTM ILS Staff. Please feel free to drop by and ask questions about, or brainstorm ideas for, your upcoming interlaboratory studies. ILS representatives will also be available to review the status of your current interlaboratory studies and help you plan the next steps. Sessions are open to all, and no appointments are needed.

  • Training Module: Developing and Revising an ASTM Standard
    Monday, 12:00pm - 1:00pm

    This training module will showcase the latest enhancements in online standards development tools within the ASTM member portal called MyASTM. In addition, this module will provide new members with an arsenal of electronic tools that facilitate your participation at any place, at any time. These tools prepare you for meetings, keep you informed, provide technical contacts, and ultimately enable your input to the consensus process. The training will walk you through these online tools to help you become comfortable with how to find the tools you need to accomplish your goals within ASTM. The module will be presented by Alyson Fick, ASTM Staff.

  • The Sydney D. Andrews Scroll Achievement Award Luncheon
    Tuesday, 12:00pm - 1:30pm

    The Sydney D. Andrews Scroll Achievement Award will be presented to Joaquin Lubkowitz at a luncheon. Please register online in advance of the meeting. The cost is $35. Congratulations to Joaquin for this recognition by Committee D02.

  • ASTM International Compass

  • ASTM International Translated Services
    Tuesday, 4:00pm-5:00pm

    As a global standards development organization, ASTM International realizes how critical it is to provide our technical content in multiple languages. As such, ASTM has begun to offer translated versions of ASTM content and services.

    This training session will provide an overview of the latest ASTM D02 standard translations included in the ASTM Spanish Standards Petroleum Collection and ASTM Portuguese Petroleum Standards Collection. The training will review how to locate and access the translated standards on ASTM Compass. The session will wrap up with a preview of the planned translations for the next calendar year.

  • Seminar: False Alarm and Missed Signal
    Tuesday, 5:30pm - 6:30pm

    When a decision is made based on imperfect data, there is a finite probability of making the wrong decision. This seminar will provide an overview on the two different types of 'wrong' decisions, and the conceptual approach to estimate the probability of committing these decision errors. Four examples will be presented to illustrate these concepts. This seminar will be presented by Alex Lau.

  • Workshop: International Participants and Member Orientation
    Wednesday, 7:00am - 8:00am

    This orientation will include an overview of ASTM and the organization and structure of D02. Learn about your role and responsibilities as a new D02 member. There will be an opportunity to ask questions. All members, especially new members and visitors, are encouraged to attend.

    The orientation will be presented by James Simnick, Committee D02 First Vice-Chairman.

    COMMITTEE ACTIVITY FEES

    Several ASTM committees collect a voluntary fee to support activities associated within the committee such as awards, social events, etc. Each committee determines the amount and encourages your contribution. The activity fee can be paid online in advance on the preregistration page. This voluntary contribution is not an ASTM International society fee.


    SPECIAL ACTIVITY

    Several committees hold planned banquet events. You have the ability to purchase your tickets online in advance on the preregistration page. Your tickets will be available on-site at the Registration Area.



    COMPLIMENTARY SUPPORT SERVICES

    ASTM meetings offer on-site services from the ASTM staff. We provide photocopying service, audio/visual equipment, and a members' work area with complimentary internet computers. We also have an editor on-site to assist you with the form and style of standards, editorial changes and first drafts of standards.

    Join us for coffee and breakfast pastries Monday through Thursday from 8:30am to 9:30am at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis. A representative from the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau will be on hand with information on what to see and do in Atlanta.     DRESS/WEATHER

    Attendees have the option to determine their dress at ASTM meetings. Business casual attire is acceptable at this meeting and appropriate for Atlanta. The average temperatures in December range from a high of 55 degrees Fahrenheit to a low of 35 degrees Fahrenheit.
