    All meetings will be held at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina, 1380 Harbor Island, San Diego, CA 92101.

    There are two towers in this hotel, please take note when booking your hotel room which tower your committee will be meeting in.The following committee meetings will be held in the Bay Tower: A04, B08,D05, D15,E04,E20, E28,F06, F09, F11,F16, G04. All other committee meetings and registration will be held in the Marina Tower. Committee Week Services will be provided in both towers.

    Hotel Reservations: Staying at our contracted hotel is important to ASTM, to the destination where we are holding this meeting, and ultimately to you as an ASTM member. When you book a hotel outside of the block, and a contracted room goes unsold, we must pay penalty fes to the hotel. Please support ASTM by reserving your sleeping room at our official hotel.Reservations may be made via our online reservation system at Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina Reservations.

    Select your dates and proceed as instructed. Reservations may also be made by telephoning the hotel at 1-877-734-2726 (you must mention ASTM in order to receive the group rate). If you need assistance with your hotel reservation, please call the hotel directly.

    The discounted rate will be honored until the ASTM block is full, but no later than April 15, 2018. ASTM rates are $199 plus tax. You may be charged a higher rate if reservations are received after the cut-off date, or when the block is full. The hotel requires a credit card to guarantee your reservation, once submitted a confirmation number will be provided electronically.

    The Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina has a limited number of rooms at the government per diem rate.If you are eligible for the government rate select “I have an access code” and enter ASE15B. Reservations may be made via our online reservation system at Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina Government Reservations. You must present your ID at the front desk upon check-in.

    IMPORTANT! ASTM Rates are non-commissionable. If you book your reservation through a travel agent, they must ask for a non-commissioned ASTM Group Rate. ASTM cannot adjust your higher rate if commissions were paid to a travel agency.

    CANCELLATION/CHANGE POLICY: At the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina Hotel, notice of cancellation must be received 3 days prior to day of arrival in order to avoid a charge.Failure to do so will incure a penalty equal to the cost of one night's room and tax.

    ASTM MEMBERS WORK AREA: ASTM will provide computers with internet connections. This area will also be wireless for your laptop computer. You may visit the ASTM website, apply or renew your membership, order publications or check your email. The complimentary wireless service is limited to the members' work area and the meeting rooms.

    ASTM staff will provide several training sessions on various subjects to educate and assist officers, members and non-members of ASTM committees. The following topics will be discussed:

  • ASTM International Orientation (Monday) 12:00pm - 1:00pm

    Meeting attendees are invited to a welcome and orientation session. This session will provide a brief introduction to ASTM, its process, electronic tools, and international activities. This is an interactive session and questions are encouraged as we would like attendees to feel comfortable in participating at their standards meetings. Facilitated by ASTM staff, this session also provides new and experienced members and visitors a chance to connect at the beginning of the Committee Week.

  • ASTM Learning- Expert Online, Live & Mobile Learning Solutions (Monday & Wednesday) 12:00pm-1:00pm

    Do you have questions about the types of training services offered by ASTM International? If so, this session is for you. During this one hour presentation, we will overview the benefits of our training program and how our industry leading products help solve customer problems in the environmental market. We will also discuss the 2018 roadmap for new development, product enhancements and features. There will also be 15 minutes reserved for Q & A and requests.


    This training session will provide an overview and demonstration of the ASTM Proficiency Testing Program new PTP2 Portal. The PTP2 Portal is a web-based program that allows participants to access important documents and information from one convenient location. The training will review how to access the lab worksheets and lab instructions, how to review important dates and enter their analytical results. Downloading the final statistical report can will also be discussed. If you are having issues accessing the new portal, have questions about the new portal, or are just interested to see the new system, please join us.

  • Balloting and Handling of Negative Votes (Tuesday) 4:00pm - 5:30pm

    This session will inform members on how to effectively move documents through the ASTM balloting process, from initiating a subcommittee ballott through main committee and Society review. A review of the role of COS (Committee on Standards) is included. In addition, learn to get positive results from negative votes! Special focus on the procedural handling of negative votes throughout the balloting process. If you have any questions about Balloting and Handling Negative votes.

  • Developing and Revising a Standard (Wednesday) 12:00pm - 1:00pm

    During this joint Technical Committee Operations and Editorial module, we will review both new and revised standards as they go through the development and publication process. We will cover how standard ideas are introduced, drafted, and publicized as well as review ASTM's electronic tools and time-tested techniques for accelerating the development of your standard. Included in the workshop will be a brief review of work items registration, the three stages of balloting, and an explanation of the key roles of your editor and the standard's technical contact.

  • Workshop: Introduction to the Interlaboratory Study Program (ILS)
    Monday, 12:00pm - 1:00pm
    Wednesday, 8:00am-9:00am

    This module is designed to familiarize members with the ILS Program, its features, benefits, capabilities, and the online registration process. Research Reports will also be specifically addressed during the session. This workshop will benefit anyone planning to run (or participate in) an interlaboratory study to generate a precision statement for a new or existing ASTM test method. Presented by Phillip Godorov and Caitlin Farrell, ASTM ILS Staff.

  • In addition to the ILS Workshop schedule above, several ILS Q&A Sessions have been planned with ASTM ILS Staff. Please feel free to drop by and ask questions about, or brainstorm ideas for, your upcoming interlaboratory studies. ILS Representatives will also be available to review the status of your current interlaboratory studies and help you plan the next steps. Sessions are open to all, and no appointments are needed.

    Several ASTM committees collect a voluntary fee to support activities associated within the committee such as awards, social events, etc. Each committee determines the amount and encourages your contribution. The activity fee can be paid online in advance on the preregistration page. This voluntary contribution is not an ASTM International society fee.


    Several committees hold planned banquet events. You have the ability to purchase your tickets online in advance on the preregistration page. Your tickets will be available on-site at the Registration Area.


    ASTM meetings offer on-site services from the ASTM staff. We provide photocopying service, audio/visual equipment, and a members' work area with complimentary internet computers.


    ASTM International invites you for lunch (instead of the normal Wednesday 7am Breakfast) with the Chairman of the Board and ASTM President on Tuesday, May 22nd at 12 Noon at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina Hotel. At this lunch, you will hear an update on ASTM and have an opportunity to ask questions or share your comments. You may pick up your ticket at the ASTM Registration Desk.


    Join us for coffee and breakfast pastries Monday through Thursday from 8:30am to 9:30am at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina. A representative from the city of San Diego will be on hand with information on what to see and do in San Diego.     Attendees have the option to determine their dress at ASTM meetings. Business casual attire is acceptable at this meeting and appropriate for San Diego. The average temperatures in May range from a high of 70 degrees Fahrenheit to a low of 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
