    SCHEDULE

    To view your committee schedule, use the convenient link on this meeting page. Approximately two weeks prior to the meeting, meeting room names will be added to the schedule.


    PREREGISTRATION

    You must be registered to attend ASTM Meetings. Use our online registration form where you have the ability to register for multiple events, pay fees in advance using a credit card, and receive an electronic confirmation. You may register online at the "Register" link above.

    When you preregister online, you will receive emails on committee meetings, final announcements, and other information that will help you prepare for your meeting. The registration information significantly assists us in preparations for the committee week.

    The cut-off for preregistration is Wednesday, June 22, 2016. After this date, please register on-site at the ASTM Registration Desk at the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile.


    HOTEL INFORMATION

    All meetings will be held at the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile, 540 North Michigan Ave, Chicago, Illinois 60611. Reservations may be made via our online reservation system at Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile Reservations.

    Reservations may also be made by telephoning the hotel at (312) 836-0100. If you need assistance with your hotel reservation, please call the hotel directly.

    Group rate will be honored until the ASTM block is full, but no later than May 19, 2016. The ASTM Room Block is CURRENTLY SOLD OUT on the nights of June 28th and 29th. ASTM rates are $189 plus tax. You may be charged a higher rate if reservations are received after the cut-off date, or when the block is full.

    The Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile's Government Rate is higher than ASTM's Rate. Therefore, please make your reservation with the link provided above. To get the Government Rate at $200.00 plus tax please call the hotel directly

    OVERFLOW HOTEL INFORMATION

    The Courtyard Downtown Chicago/River North is located at 30 East Hubbard Street, Chicago, IL 60611. The Courtyard rate is $149.00 plus tax. Reservation may be made by calling Marriott reservations at (312)329-2500 and mentioning the ASTM Group. The discounted rate will be honored until the ASTM block is full, but no later than June 6, 2016.

    IMPORTANT! ASTM Rates are non-commissionable. If you book your reservation through a travel agent, they must ask for a non-commissioned ASTM Group Rate. ASTM cannot adjust your higher rate if commissions were paid to a travel agency.

    ADVANCE DEPOSIT: The Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile Hotel requires a credit card to guarantee your reservation.

    CONFIRMATION NOTICES: A confirmation number is provided to you electronically once your reservation has been submitted.

    CANCELLATION/CHANGE POLICY: At the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile Hotel, notice of cancellation must be received 24 hours prior to day of arrival in order to avoid a charge.

    INTERNET: The hotel offers complimentary wireless connections in public spaces. The hotel charges $14.95 per day in guest rooms.

    Marriott Rewards Program: Free Wi-Fi for members - if you are not a member you should sign up before you make your reservation. Please go to Marriott Rewards Member where benefits include free standard Wi-Fi, mobile check-in and earning points for free hotel stays and more. By clicking on this link, you will see a button at the top right of the page, that says "Join now." Click that button, complete the form and you are on your way. When you make a reservation through ASTM's hotel web-page, please see the drop down box when giving your personal information. Click on Rewards, and a membership box will appear. Add your account number there. When you are at the hotel, you can access the internet from your room. Choose the basic internet package and accept the charges. These charges will be removed from the bill if your Marriott Rewards account is on file.

    ASTM MEMBERS' WORK AREA: ASTM will provide computers with internet connections. This area will also be wireless for your laptop computer.You may visit the ASTM website, apply or renew your membership, order publications, or check your email. The complimentary wireless service is limited to the members' work area and the meeting rooms.


    TRANSPORTATION AND DIRECTIONS

    The hotel is located approximately 12.1 miles/28 minutes from the Chicago Midway International Airport and 17.2 miles away from O'Hare International Airport.     TRANSPORATION SECURITY ADMINISTRATION (TSA): Long airport lines are making headlines. The TSA is working with the airports and airlines to speed up the check points. Get to the airport extremely early, plan your travel and routinely check for updates and boarding information. You can easily check by downloading the MyTSA app on either Apple or Google Play.

    AIRPORT SHUTTLE SERVICE: Shuttle transportation to and from the Chicago Midway International Airport and O'Hare International Airport is available for a fee by Go Airport Express between 6:00 AM and 11:30 PM, daily. Reservations are required. Their phone number is (773) 247-1200. To make a reservation online, visit Go Airport Express . Taxis cost approximately $50 one way.

    PARKING: ROW Parking Garage is located at 50 E. Ohio Street, Chicago, IL, 60611 providing $61 valet parking and $46 self-parking. There are Special discounted rates for the day "Spot Hero" phone app or online at Spot Hero . You will need to enter the parking garage address and it will list various prices, depending on how many hours they will need to be parked.


    ASTM TRAINING SESSIONS

    ASTM staff will provide several training sessions on various subjects to educate and assist officers, members, and non-members of ASTM committees. The following topics will be discussed:

  • International Member Orientation Training Module (Monday) 7:00am-8:00am

    This module is intended to welcome and introduce International Members to ASTM International and the ASTM process. The module will consist of a brief introduction of the history of ASTM, ASTM activities in the International Standards Community and to discuss frequently asked questions regarding ASTM meetings and the ASTM standards development process. The hope is to attract new members as well as existing members to share in an exchange of information about ASTM International. The module will be facilitated by ASTM Staff.

  • Writing, Handling and Resolving Negative Votes (Tuesday) 12:00pm-1:00pm

    This session will discuss how to write an effective negative, how the committees should address negative votes, and how to resolve negative votes using the Online Negative Resolution Tool in the MyASTM section of the ASTM website. Additionally, you will be exposed to the roles that the subcommittee chairs, technical contacts, and ASTM Staff play throughout this process.

  • PANEL: YEAR OF THE SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED ENTERPRISE (SME) (Tuesday) 12:00pm-1:00pm

    Join Dan Smith, ASTM's VP of Technical Committee Operations at the Chicago Marriott Magnificent Mile for a conversation with business leaders who are growing, innovating, and competing globally through ASTM. Learn information and tips on how ASTM is a great place for small businesses to make your voice heard, to network, to develop professionally, and more.

  • Developing and Revising an ASTM Standard (Wednesday) 12:00pm-1:00pm

    During this joint Technical Committee Operations and Editorial module, we will review both new and revised standards as they go through the development and publication process. We will cover how standard ideas are introduced, drafted,and publicized, as well as review ASTM's electronic tools and time-tested techniques for accelerating the development of your standard. Included in the workshop will be a brief review of work items registration, the three stages of balloting, and an explanation of the key roles of your editor and the standard's technical contact.

  • Workshop: Introduction to the Interlaboratory Study Program (ILS)
    Wednesday, 12:00pm - 1:00pm

    This module is designed to familiarize members with the ILS Program, its features, benefits, capabilities, and the online registration process. Research Reports will also be specifically addressed during the session. This workshop will benefit anyone planning to run (or participate in) an interlaboratory study to generate a precision statement for a new or existing ASTM test method. Presented by Phillip Godorov and Caitlin Farrell, ASTM ILS Staff.

  • In addition to the ILS Workshop schedule above, several ILS Q&A Sessions have been planned with ASTM ILS Staff. Please feel free to drop by and ask questions about, or brainstorm ideas for, your upcoming interlaboratory studies. ILS Representatives will also be available to review the status of your current interlaboratory studies and help you plan the next steps. Sessions are open to all, and no appointments are needed.

  • Interlaboratory Studies (ILS) Question and Answer Sessions

    COMMITTEE ACTIVITY FEES

    Several ASTM committees collect a voluntary fee to support activities associated within the committee such as awards, social events, etc. Each committee determines the amount and encourages your contribution. The activity fee can be paid online in advance on the preregistration page. This voluntary contribution is not an ASTM International society fee.


    SPECIAL ACTIVITY

    Several committees hold planned banquet events. You have the ability to purchase your tickets online in advance on the preregistration page. Your tickets will be available on-site at the Registration Area.



    COMPLIMENTARY SUPPORT SERVICES

    ASTM meetings offer on-site services from the ASTM staff. We provide photocopying service, audio/visual equipment, and a members' work area with complimentary internet computers. We also have an editor on-site to assist you with the form and style of standards, editorial changes and first drafts of standards.


    MEMBERS BREAKFAST

    ASTM ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING - Join your elected officers and staff for a continental breakfast on Wednesday at 7:00am sharp at the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile. At this breakfast, you will hear an update on ASTM and have an opportunity to ask questions or share your comments. You may pick up your ticket at the ASTM Registration Desk.


    SPOUSES' HOSPITALITY

    Join us for coffee and breakfast pastries Monday through Thursday from 8:30am to 9:30am at the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile. A representative from the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau will be on hand with information on what to see and do in Chicago.     DRESS/WEATHER

    Attendees have the option to determine their dress at ASTM meetings. Business casual attire is acceptable at this meeting and appropriate for Chicago. The average temperatures in June range from a high of 85 degrees to a low of 66 degrees.


    MISCELLANEOUS
