3/3/2020 - ASTM International has been closely monitoring the unfolding situation with COVID-19/Coronavirus. We are closely following the direction given by the US State Department as it relates to travel. Based on information available now, our Spring Committee Weeks in Boston will be held. Our registration numbers for the April Boston Committee week are quite strong. Of course, a significant escalation of events in the US, particularly Massachusetts, could impact attendance or cause us to take different action. Similarly, other ASTM meetings in the US are expected to be held. We are still evaluating the Committee Week meetings planned for Prague at the end of April. We will keep you informed as we receive additional information and make any changes with our scheduled meetings.
Pre-register for Committee(s) Meeting(s) - There is no fee to attend an ASTM Meeting but one must register (note: meeting registration only, contact hotel for accommodations).

You must be registered to attend ASTM Meetings. Use our online registration form where you have the ability to register for multiple events, pay fees in advance using a credit card, and receive an electronic confirmation. You may register online at the "Register" link above.
When you preregister online, you will receive emails on committee meetings, final announcements, and other information that will help you prepare for your meeting. The registration information significantly assists us in preparations for the committee week.
The cut-off for preregistration is Wednesday, April 04, 2018. After this date, please register on-site at the ASTM Registration Desk at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina.
All meetings will be held at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina, 1380 Harbor Island, San Diego, CA 92101.
There are two towers in this hotel, please take note when booking your hotel room which tower your committee will be meeting in. The following committee meetings will be held in the Bay Tower: D07, D10, D14, D22, D28, D30, E33, E35, F02, F12, F18, F20, F40. All other committee meetings and registration will be held in the Marina Tower. Committee Week Services will be provided in both towers.
Hotel Reservations: Staying at our contracted hotel is important to ASTM, to the destination where we are holding this meeting, and ultimately to you as an ASTM member. When you book a hotel outside of the block, and a contracted room goes unsold, we must pay penalty fees to the hotel. Please support ASTM by reserving your sleeping room at our official hotel. Reservations may be made via our online reservation system at Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina Reservations.
The discounted rate will be honored until the ASTM block is full, but no later than March 02, 2018. ASTM rates are $199 plus tax. You may be charged a higher rate if reservations are received after the cut-off date, or when the block is full. The hotel requires a credit card to guarantee your reservation, once submitted a confirmation number will be provided electronically.

The Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina has a limited number of rooms at the government per diem rate. If you are eligible for the government rate select “I have an access code” and enter ASTMGOV. IMPORTANT! ASTM Rates are non-commissionable. If you book your reservation through a travel agent, they must ask for a non-commissioned ASTM Group Rate. ASTM cannot adjust your higher rate if commissions were paid to a travel agency.
CANCELLATION/CHANGE POLICY: At the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina Hotel, notice of cancellation must be received 3 days prior to day of arrival in order to avoid a charge. Failure to do so will insure a penalty equal to the cost of one night's room and tax.
ASTM MEMBERS WORK AREA: ASTM will provide computers with internet connections. This area will also be wireless for your laptop computer. You may visit the ASTM website, apply or renew your membership, order publications or check your email. The complimentary wireless service is limited to the members' work area and the meeting rooms.

ASTM staff will provide several training sessions on various subjects to educate and assist officers, members and non-members of ASTM committees. The following topics will be discussed:
Meeting attendees are invited to a welcome and orientation session. This session will provide a brief introduction to ASTM, its process, electronic tools, and international activities. This is an interactive session and questions are encouraged as we would like attendees to feel comfortable in participating at their standards meetings. Facilitated by ASTM staff, this session also provides new and experienced members and visitors a chance to connect at the beginning of the Committee Week.
Do you have questions about the types of training services offered by ASTM International? If so, this session is for you. During this one hour presentation, we will overview the benefits of our training program and how our industry leading products help solve customer problems in the environmental market. We will also discuss the 2018 roadmap for new development, product enhancements and features. There will also be 15 minutes reserved for Q & A and requests.
This training session will provide an overview and demonstration of the ASTM Proficiency Testing Program new PTP2 Portal. The PTP2 Portal is a web-based program that allows participants to access important documents and information from one convenient location. The training will review how to access the lab worksheets and lab instructions, how to review important dates and enter their analytical results. Downloading the final statistical report can will also be discussed. This session will inform members on how to effectively move documents through the ASTM balloting process, from initiating a subcommittee ballot through main committee and Society review. A review of the role of COS (Committee on Standards) is included. In addition, learn to get positive results from negative votes! During this joint Technical Committee Operations and Editorial module, we will review both new and revised standards as they go through the development and publication process. We will cover how standard ideas are introduced, drafted, and publicized as well as review ASTM's electronic tools and time-tested techniques for accelerating the development of your standard. Included in the workshop will be a brief review of work items registration, the three stages of balloting, and an explanation of the key roles of your editor and the standard's technical contact.

This focused 1-day course covers the ASTM Environmental Site Assessment Standard Practices for the Phase I Site Assessment Process (E1527). You will gain an understanding of how to use the standard and how the standards affect the way you do business. The instructor will also discuss the "Innocent Landowner Defense" under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), and why due diligence is necessary. Several ASTM committees collect a voluntary fee to support activities associated within the committee such as awards, social events, etc. Each committee determines the amount and encourages your contribution. The activity fee can be paid online in advance on the preregistration page. This voluntary contribution is not an ASTM International society fee.
Several committees hold planned banquet events. You have the ability to purchase your tickets online in advance on the preregistration page. Your tickets will be available on-site at the Registration Area.
ASTM meetings offer on-site services from the ASTM staff. We provide photocopying service, audio/visual equipment, and a members' work area with complimentary internet computers.
ASTM International invites you for lunch (instead of the normal Wednesday 7am Breakfast) with the Chairman of the Board and ASTM President on Tuesday, April 10th at 12 Noon at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina Hotel. At this lunch, you will hear an update on ASTM and have an opportunity to ask questions or share your comments. You may pick up your ticket at the ASTM Registration Desk.
To register your spouse you must add them to the online registration form. There is no registration fee. They are welcome to attend the Spouses Hospitality Breakfast Monday-Thursday 8:30am-9:30am. A representative from the city of San Diego will be on hand with information on what to see and do in San Diego. Attendees have the option to determine their dress at ASTM meetings. Business casual attire is acceptable at this meeting and appropriate for San Diego. The average temperatures in January range from a high of 70 degrees Fahrenheit to a low of 55 degrees Fahrenheit.
