    Pre-register for Committee(s) Meeting(s) - There is no fee to attend an ASTM Meeting but registration is required (note: meeting registration only, contact hotel for accommodations).

    ASTM TRAINING SESSIONS

    ASTM staff will provide several training sessions on various subjects to educate and assist officers, members and non-members of ASTM committees. The following topics will be discussed:

  • ASTM International Orientation (Monday) 12:00pm-1:00pm

    Meeting attendees are invited to a welcome and orientation session. This session will provide a brief introduction to ASTM, its process, electronic tools, and international activities. This is an interactive session and questions are encouraged as we would like attendees to feel comfortable in participating at their standards meetings. Facilitated by ASTM staff, this session also provides new and experienced members and visitors a chance to connect at the beginning of the Committee Week.

  • Balloting and Handling of Negative Votes (Wednesday) 4:00pm-5:00pm

    This session will inform memberss on how to effectively move documents through the ASTM balloting process, from initiating a subcommittee ballot through main committee and Society review. A review of the role of COS (Committee of Standards) is included. In addition, learn to get positive results from negative votes! Special focus on procedural handling of negative votes throughout the balloting process.

  • E-Learning & Proficiency Testing Programs (PTP) Training (Wednesday) 12:00pm-1:00pm

    Learn how Training and Proficiency Testing Programs can help you improve proficiency with ASTM Standards and Test Methods! ASTM Training and eLearning offers award-winning continuing education courses and industry leading online training programs. PTP is statistical quality assurance programs that enable laboratories to evaluate and improve performance, and maintain and fulfill mandatory accreditation requirements.

  • E-Learning & Proficiency Testing Programs (PTP) Training Question and Answer Sessions
    Monday - Wednesday, 8:00am-12:00pm and 2:00pm-4:00pm

    Refreshments will be available at all training sessions.


    PREREGISTRATION

    You must be registered to attend ASTM Meetings. Use our online registration form where you have the ability to register for multiple events, pay fees in advance using a credit card, and receive an electronic confirmation. You may register online at the "Register" link above.

    When you preregister online, you will receive emails on committee meetings, final announcements, and other information that will help you prepare for your meeting. The registration information significantly assists us in preparations for the committee week.

    The cut-off for preregistration is Wednesday, January 23rd, 2019. After this date, please register on-site at the ASTM Registration Desk at the Washington Hilton.


    HOTEL INFORMATION

    All meetings will be held at The Hyatt Regency Houston, 1200 Louisiana St. Houston, TX, 77002.

    Hotel Reservations: Staying at our contracted hotel is important to ASTM, to the hotel where we are holding this meeting, and ultimately to you as an ASTM member. When you reserve a guest room at another hotel and an ASTM contracted room goes unsold, ASTM is liable and must pay a non-performance penalty fee to the hotel. Please support ASTM by reserving your sleeping room at our official hotel. Reservations may be made via the hotel's online reservation system at The Hyatt Regency Houston Reservations. One night's room and tax deposit is required to confirm a reservation.

    The discounted rate will be honored until the ASTM block is full, but no later than December 24, 2018. ASTM rates are $149 plus tax. You may be charged a higher rate if reservations are received after the cut-off date, or when the block is full. The hotel requires a credit card to guarantee your reservation, once submitted a confirmation number will be provided electronically.

    The Hyatt Regency Houston has a limited number of rooms at the government per diem rate. Reservations may be made via our online reservation system at Hyatt Regency Houston Government Reservations. You must present your ID at the front desk upon check-in.

    IMPORTANT! ASTM Rates are non-commissionable. If you book your reservation through a travel agent, they must ask for a non-commissioned ASTM Group Rate. ASTM cannot adjust your higher rate if commissions were paid to a travel agency.


    TRANSPORTATION AND LOCAL INFORMATION

    The hotel is located approximately 12miles/20 minutes from the Houston Hobby Airport, 22.9 miles/36 minutes from the George Bush Intercontinental Airport. The Hyatt Regency Houston is an eight block walk from The Toyota Center, a speedy shuttle ride from Minute Maid park.     RIDESHARING PROGRAM: Transportation Network Providers (TNP), also referred to as a “rideshare” company, provide prearranged transportation through an app, connecting passengers with drivers of vehicles for hire. Lyft and Uber are TNP companies operating in Houston,TX.

    PARKING: Valet parking is available with rates of $20-$39 day parking, $39 for overnight. Self-parking is also available at a self parking rate of $20/daily. Self-parking garage is next to the hotel and does not offer in/out privileges.


    SPOUSES' HOSPITALITY

    COMPLIMENTARY SUPPORT SERVICES AND AMENITIES

    ASTM meetings offer on-site services from the ASTM staff. We provide photocopying service, audio/visual equipment, and a members' work area with complimentary internet computers.


    DRESS/WEATHER

    Attendees have the option to determine their dress at ASTM meetings. Business casual attire is acceptable at this meeting and appropriate for Houston TX. The average temperatures in December range from a high of 62 degrees Fahrenheit to a low of 44 degrees Fahrenheit.


    MEMBER LUNCH

    ASTM International invites you for lunch (instead of the normal Wednesday 7am Breakfast) with the Chairman of the Board and ASTM President on Tuesday, January 29th,2019 at 12 Noon at the Hyatt Regency Houston. At this lunch, you will hear an update on ASTM and have an opportunity to ask questions or share your comments. You may pick up your ticket at the ASTM Registration Desk.


    ACTIVITY FEES

    Several ASTM committees collect a voluntary fee to support activities associated within the committee such as awards, social events, etc. Each committee determines the amount and encourages your contribution. The activity fee can be paid online in advance on the preregistration page. This voluntary contribution is not an ASTM International society fee.


    SPECIAL ACTIVITY

    Several committees hold planned banquet events. You have the ability to purchase your tickets online in advance on the preregistration page. Your tickets will be available on-site at the Registration Area.


    MISCELLANEOUS

    Please advise the hotel and ASTM of any disability which will require special attention. The Hyatt Regency Houston is in compliance with ADA standards.
