      ASTM TRAINING SESSIONS

      ASTM staff will provide several education sessions on various subjects to educate and assist officers, members and non-members of ASTM committees. The following topics will be discussed:

    • ASTM International Orientation (Monday) 12:00pm - 1:00pm

      Meeting attendees are invited to a welcome and orientation session. This session will provide a brief introduction to ASTM, its process, electronic tools, and international activities. This is an interactive session and questions are encouraged as we would like attendees to feel comfortable in participating at their standards meetings. Facilitated by ASTM staff, this session also provides new and experienced members and visitors a chance to connect at the beginning of the Committee Week.

    • ASTM Learning- Expert Online, Live & Mobile Learning Solutions (Monday & Wednesday) 12:00pm-1:00pm

      Do you have questions about the types of training services offered by ASTM International? If so, this session is for you. During this one hour presentation, we will overview the benefits of our training program and how our industry leading products help solve customer problems in the environmental market. We will also discuss the 2018 roadmap for new development, product enhancements and features. There will also be 15 minutes reserved for Q & A and requests.

    • Registering a Work Item and Launching a Collaboration Area (Wednesday) 12:00pm - 1:00pm

      This module will review the steps required to register a Work Item, Elaborating on what a Work Item is in ASTM. Next, the session will explore the ASTM Collaboration Area. ASTM Staff will address how to launch a Collaboration Area, upload documents to the site, invite new members to the Collaboration Area, as well as highlighting the other functionalities of the Collaboration Area.


    • PREREGISTRATION

      You must be registered to attend ASTM Meetings. Use our online registration form where you have the ability to register for multiple events, pay fees in advance using a credit card, and receive an electronic confirmation. You may register online at the "Register" link above.

      When you preregister online, you will receive emails on committee meetings, final announcements, and other information that will help you prepare for your meeting. The registration information significantly assists us in preparations for the committee week.

      The cut-off for preregistration is Wednesday, November 29, 2017. After this date, please register on-site at the ASTM Registration Desk at the Sheraton New Orleans.


      HOTEL INFORMATION

      All meetings will be held at the Sheraton New Orleans, 500 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA 70130. Reservations may be made via our online reservation system at Sheraton New Orleans Reservations.

      Select your dates and proceed as instructed. Reservations may also be made by telephoning the hotel at 1-800-325-3535 or 504-525-2500 (you must mention ASTM in order to receive the group rate). If you need assistance with your hotel reservation, please call the hotel directly.

      The discounted rate will be honored until the ASTM block is full, but no later than October 25, 2017. ASTM rates are $189 plus tax. You may be charged a higher rate if reservations are received after the cut-off date, or when the block is full. The hotel requires a credit card to guarantee your reservation, once submitted a confirmation number will be provided electronically.

      Please note that there are multiple city wide events in New Orleans during these dates, please make your reservations as soon as possible

      The Sheraton New Orleans has a limited number of rooms at the government per diem rate. Reservations may be made via our online reservation system at Sheraton New Orleans Government Reservations. You must present your ID at the front desk upon check-in.

      IMPORTANT! ASTM Rates are non-commissionable. If you book your reservation through a travel agent, they must ask for a non-commissioned ASTM Group Rate. ASTM cannot adjust your higher rate if commissions were paid to a travel agency. We appriciate your support in booking within the ASTM block.

      CANCELLATION/CHANGE POLICY: At the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel, notice of cancellation must be received 3 days prior to day of arrival in order to avoid a charge. Failure to do so will incure a penalty equal to the cost of one night's room and tax.

      Check the ASTM website for updates on overflow hotel room availability.

      INTERNET: High Speed Internet in guest rooms is $5.95 - $14.95 plus tax daily. For SPG VIP Platinum, Gold and first time members, the hotel offers complimentary wireless connection in the guest rooms.

      ASTM MEMBERS WORK AREA: ASTM will provide computers with internet connections. This area will also be wireless for your laptop computer. You may visit the ASTM website, apply or renew your membership, order publications or check your email. The complimentary wireless service is limited to the members' work area and the meeting rooms.


      TRANSPORTATION AND LOCAL INFORMATION

      The hotel is located approximately 15.9 miles/27 minutes from the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. The hotel's phone number is (504) 525-2500 and the general fax number is (504) 595-5552. The website for the hotel is Sheraton New Orleans.

      AIRPORT SHUTTLE SERVICE: Shuttle transportation from the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport is available for a fee of $24 per person one way or $44 person, round trip. Passengers can purchase tickets at the Airport at Airport Shuttle ticket booths located on the first level throughout the Baggage Claim area. Please visit Airport Shuttle New Orleans. Taxicab booths are located on the first level of the Terminal outside of Baggage Claim Belts 1 and 14. Taxi Rides cost approx $36 one way.

      STREETCAR TRANSPORTATION: The hotel is located right on the Streetcar line along Canal Street, St. Charles Avenue, and the Riverfront. One-way cost: $1.25. One, 3 and 5-day unlimited ride passes are also available for $5, $12 and $20 respectively.

      RIDESHARING PROGRAM: Transportation Network Providers (TNP), also referred to as a “rideshare” company, provide prearranged transportation through an app, connecting passengers with drivers of vehicles for hire. Lyft and Uber are TNP companies operating in New Orleans.

      Uber is offering your first ride FREE (up to $20) for first time riders only. Download the app or visit www.uber.com and enter the code UBERON20.

      PARKING: The hotel provides limited valet parking at a cost of $43 plus tax overnight. The hotel does not offer self-parking.


      SPOUSES' HOSPITALITY

      Join us for coffee and breakfast pastries Monday through Thursday from 8:30am to 9:30am at the Sheraton New Orleans. A representative from the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau will be on hand with information on what to see and do in New Orleans.       COMPLIMENTARY SUPPORT SERVICES AND AMENITIES

      ASTM meetings offer on-site services from the ASTM staff. We provide photocopying service, audio/visual equipment, and a members' work area with complimentary internet computers.


      DRESS/WEATHER

      Attendees have the option to determine their dress at ASTM meetings. Business casual attire is acceptable at this meeting and appropriate for New Orleans. The average temperatures in December range from a high of 64 degrees Fahrenheit to a low of 45 degrees Fahrenheit.


      ACTIVITY FEES

      Several ASTM committees collect a voluntary fee to support activities associated within the committee such as awards, social events, etc. Each committee determines the amount and encourages your contribution. The activity fee can be paid online in advance on the preregistration page. This voluntary contribution is not an ASTM International society fee.


      SPECIAL ACTIVITY

      Several committees hold planned banquet events. You have the ability to purchase your tickets online in advance on the preregistration page. Your tickets will be available on-site at the Registration Area.


      MISCELLANEOUS

      Please advise the hotel and ASTM of any disability which will require special attention. The Sheraton New Orleans is in compliance with ADA standards.
