In 1952, the Bibliography and Abstracts on Electrical Contacts was republished. The original printing of January, 1944, and all of the supplements that had been issued since then were included, many duplications were eliminated, and errors corrected. This new supplement now becomes the first with respect to the 1952 edition, and it includes all new references collected up to January 1, 1954. This is the largest supplement in number of references for two reasons. First, it contains the items collected over a two-year period, and second, the number of papers published each year has increased, a fact that indicates a growing interest in the research, development, and engineering problems in this field. It is encouraging to note an increase in basic research on some of the fundamental problems, as well as a considerable increase in the number of publications concerning heavy current interruption and control equipment. We are indebted to Masao Fujimoto for a list of references to Japanese publications. We have endeavored to secure more information concerning the papers and the sources, but what we have given is the best that is now available through our connection with the Carnegie Library in Pittsburgh, Pa. When more information is available, it will be included in subsequent supplements.
