Structural Testing of Large Glass Installations

Source

Static test chambers for simulating wind loads on large glass plates or glassto-metal wall assemblies are described. With strain gage and deflection instrumentation, it is possible to determine the effect of supporting members, glass size, and other factors on the stress distribution in the assembly. The relation of small scale tests on glass to these large scale tests is discussed, particularly with respect to the effect of size and rate of loading on the strength of glass.
