Effect of Forming on Mechanical Properties

Source

Effects of stretching and bending on the static and fatigue strengths of sheet metals were determined experimentally on several aluminum alloys, commercial pure titanium and type 302 stainless steel. These effects can be explained or predicted by considering the effect of three factors: strain hardening, micro-residual stress, and macro-residual stress.
