    Abstract

Much has been done in the last quarter century to improve the design and the manufacture of propulsion shafting. It is the purpose of this paper to review operating experiences and full scale tests of propulsion shafting of U. S. Navy ships and changes in design resulting therefrom. A period of approximately twenty-five years is covered.
