The previous articles in this series of papers have covered (1) steel and kindred alloys, (2) nickel and cobalt alloys, and (3) aluminum and titanium. Summaries of mechanical properties of these materials both before and after irradiation were presented in a form potentially useful to mechanical engineers working with the designs of structural components for nuclear reactor cores. This article will present the same type of data for zirconium alloys. Much more work has been done with zirconium alloys than with some of the other materials and much more information is available. In addition, the authors are not aware of prior open literature publication of summary data for the properties of irradiated zirconium and, therefore, wish to cover this subject thoroughly.
