The Flame Photometer in The Analysis of Water and Water-Formed-Deposits

Source

Salts of sodium and to a lesser extent potassium occur in most water supplies. Any chemical treatment process is likely to increase the ratio of sodium or potassium to the dissolved solids in the water. Modern practices of boiler feedwater treatment result in the conversion of practically all soluble constituents of the boiler water to sodium and potassium salts. The determination of alkali metal concentrations in water supplies for a number of industrial processes may be useful.
