Belting and Hose Made from Synthetic Rubber

Source

The purpose of this paper is to review the various stages of change and development which have led to the conversion from belting and hose made from natural crude rubber to similar products performing the same function but made of synthetic rubber. This paper is not intended to be a presentation of a particular research problem, but rather a summary which is hoped to be of some help to the users of these products in aiding them in the proper selection of the type of synthetic rubber best suited for a particular purpose. The author is keenly aware of the fact that this conversion from natural crude rubber to synthetic rubber products has been so rapid that the industry has not had sufficient time or opportunity to develop all the potential possibilities that these synthetic rubbers may possess. Therefore, the statements made and conclusions drawn must be accepted as an attempt to summarize only the somewhat limited information available to date, knowing full well that subsequent developments may reveal that the conclusions will have to be modified or changed.
