    A data precision assessment of total suspended particulate measurements from collocated samplers on two monitoring programs shows such calculations to be extremely useful both as a quality assurance tool to assess data quality and in the actual analysis of particulate concentration data. Considering the inherent variability in this measurement method, a data precision goal of ± 15% for the 95% upper and lower probability limits is reasonable and attainable. Concentration pairs with percentage differences outside these limits should be carefully scrutinized for possible elimination as outliers before reporting final data precision statistics. Variation in the degree of agreement between data pairs may be attributable to sampler pair configurations, and caused by differential exposure of the samplers to key local particulate sources under various meteorological conditions. The more favorable precision results were attained on the program where high-volume samplers were equipped with covers protecting filters during pre- and post-run idle periods. Operator procedures and diligence also directly affect data comparability.
